I drew this map on CC3. This is the Players hand out.
And the full color map
The Sword lands or Klingelnder lie to the north east of a large continent. The men of this world refer to the world as simply that, the world.
To the far east you see the isles of Stromgart land of the fierce sea raiders and home to many petty kingdoms ruled over by strongmen who style themselves as jarls or kings. The culture is freewheeling and the people independent, freedom-loving, and unruly. Most disagreements are settled with the sword or spear and blood feuds are not uncommon. the people of Stromgart tend to be tall and pale of hair and skin though dark hair is not a rarity. they favor the strong drink mead and plenty of it and have a tendency to carouse and revel when possible.
the economy of the isle is based on trading or raiding with their neighbors and it is a common belief that the only thing that separates a Stromgart trading vessel from turning to raiding is opportunity. The lands of Stromgart are world renown for the quality of the iron and steel produced their and ingots of Stromgartian steel are much in demand in all the cities along the middenmeer and even in the courts of the emperor of the jade throne far to the west. The second export in demand from stromgart is amber which is found in the bogs of seal island.
To the west of Stromgart are the Freeholds. A wild and savage land that is under reconquest by brave settlers and explorers. Once a thriving and civilized kingdom and now reduced to barbarism following the invasion of the hobgoblin warlord Hackeye the bloody in the CY 1468 or roughly one hundred years ago.
Though the forces of Hackeyes horde were defeated and scattered at the battle randflow bridge it was too late to save the old kingdom or prevent the bulk of humanity from being slain or driven south or to the isles in the east.
The people of the freeholds are cousins to the people of Stromgart and share a similar language culture and religious beliefs though it could be said that the people of the freeholds do have a somewhat noticeable accent. Law and civilization such as it is in the freeholds ends at the stockades around what ever settlement you happen to be standing in and raids and wars between the rulers of these settlements are almost as common as wars between the northmen and the humanoids that still over run much of the land and continue to breed and thrive in the wilderlands and what used to be the dwarf holds of the Cyrm mountains.
(Vikings ) I do like me some vikings.
The big island to the south east is called Uaithne and is home to the five tuaths or kingdoms of the Uaithni people. The people of the uaithne isle are somewhat shorter than the northmen and display a greater range in coloration with brown or auburn hair and dark eyes being dominant. The Uaithni people are agrarian by nature and raise barley and grain in large quantity as well as pigs and cattle the latter being especially prized as both food and a status symbol. the five tuaths are generally independent of one another in matters of domestic policy but all pay at least lip service to the high king at Tir Uai who is elected from amongst their number.
The lands of the tuath are generally mild and pleasant with soft rains and a long growing season. The people are divided into classes with peasants at the bottom, craftsmen above them, and then warriors and nobles. The favored drink of the warrior class is Mead and its manufacture is an especially cherished industry and all the Tir of Uaithne keep bees and produce local vintages, though the people of Tir Galli are renown for their mastery of bee keeping and the high quality of the clover honey mead produced there which is traded to the peoples of the Freeholds and Stromgart for steel, amber, and whale oil. It should be noted that only those Uaithni people of warrior or noble class are permitted to drink mead. The peasants must resign themselves to drinking stout beers and ales or the grape wines imported from the western kingdoms.

Well, from an artistic perspective, I really dig the sepia tone version.
