Ruins and Radiation -- Some Character Creation Stuff

Post by serleran »

I am still working on the exact details, but the process has begun in greater earnest.... basically, the theory is to assign common traits to "orders" of animals, and then modify based on a more specific breed, allowing for much more depth. Character creation will remain quick and simple -- I just don't want three people all playing the same thing, unless that is what they decide they want to do.

A question was raised about the presentation, so I'll clarify it here, too... for those who may want a little more information and cannot click the link due to not being an ACE forum member:

Animal characters fall into a particular Order, which defines general abilities of that, such as Bats have Sonar; individual species may have their own modifications as well. The goal is to make it simple to roll on a table, write down a few things, and move on -- it should also help create animal "races" that are not predefined, by looking at something closely related, taxonomically speaking.

Also, the critters listed are essentially there to provide a guideline as to what constitutes that particular Order. I may write up some stats for the individual animal species, such as Bear -- +1 Strength, +1 Constitution (for example, not necessarily what it will have), but am torn on depth of detail... I don't want to whimp out, but I also don't want to overwhelm.
