D6 Star Wars is a lot of fun!!!

It has its issues like any other game; mostly in the way that Force powers work. The adventures, however, were top notch and I loved the classless character creation.

My biggest problem with every version of Star Wars rpgs has always been lightsabers as laser bats. Just never worked real well.

Post-Apocalypse is the thing at the moment.

I don't know - I'm kind of tired of the post-Apocalyptic settings, myself. Maybe it's just me, but I have yet to see one with some refreshing ideas in it. Maybe my exposure to them is more limited than I realize and there are some fresh, non cookie-cutter, ones out there. Sometimes, a different way to roll the dice isn't enough. I cringe at the idea of Gamma World 4e setting. Who knows? Maybe they can manage to alienate a few more fans. What, with Star Wars and 3.5 folks.

Despite all that, serl, I am interested in seeing what you bring to the postapoc table.

And DD mentioned the booster packs...

Found this article a while back. Might help you better decide what you're looking for in a PA RPG.

EDIT: FWIW, I am saving my coin for R&R. I have liked Serl's ideas in the past and in correspondence with him, I gained respect for his creative style.

Nice link Zudrak,

Looking at the list in that article, the field looks pretty weak IMO (at least with those which I'm familiar with, I know nothing about Aftermath and Darwins' World).

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Cleaner rules, the use of d20's had me a bit concerned at first, but once I started making rolls, seeing the probabilities ate work, I immediately liked them better than straight percentile. Plus their task resolution is adaptable enough you can use your old Twilight 2000 modules easy.

Twillight 2000 is my favorite of that list in Zudrak's link. The setting is just too 1980's for me nowdays.

Dislike of straight percentiles versus d20 is common it seems.

Never bothered me, but I played alot RQ.

Never looked at Twillight 2013.

It isn't just a single D20. You roll a D20 for every rank you have in a given skill, so its more like a D20 dice pool. Tie that in with the success determination rules I think it does a far better job of reflecting "realistic" chances of success given the variety of situations.

I picked up a copy at the FLGS yesterday. been reading through the reflex system and so far it seems worthy enough. The first thing that ran through my mind when i decided to buy the game was that I could easily play a game inspired by the Book of Eli. Maybe advance the timeline another decade, play 2023.

Saga is pretty good, actually.

But yeah. "Woe is us... the economy sucks! We need to cut down out product line up... bye bye Star Wars..."

"HOO! What's THAAAT? Gamma World! HOO... I wonder if we could market that with 4e?"

LOL. Hypocrites.

You do understand that they own Gammaworld and will not be paying a licensing fee right? Further SW saga edition is the 4E beta more or less.

For me, it's not the Saga rules that bother me. It's Star Wars that does.

I wouldn't pay a liscening fee for that crap either.

I liked SW SAGA well enough to have pretty much all of the books. Haven't bought the last 2, though. Don't really see, nor have I heard of, a reason to get them.

Ah, well. I always had a soft spot for Star Wars, personally.
