Troll Lord Games

OK, I finally got around to buying this.

I have to say after buying things like Toolbox, then Ultimate Toolbox, and Gary Gygax's book series, the only thing I personally like about this book is all the good old school looking art.

Now if I had not bought the aforementioned products, maybe I would like this for more than just the cool B/W art found heavily throughout.

As it is, and knowing other products have done so much more, and so much better, I am very disappointed in the very short, very simple, very limited, very unimaginative tables that are in this book.

Bummer.

The book looks great, has great art, and is laid out great. Otherwise, the content sucks. It's stuff I was writing when I was 12. I feel suckered into buying this by the enthusiastic reviews. This is totally a poor man's coffee table book.

Wow. I don't own this book myself, but I've heard only positive reviews until now. I still want to pick up a copy to judge for myself, but this info certainly gives me pause.

Considering I don't intend to pay $45 for the ultimate toolkit, I thought this book was OK.

I thought it was okay. I loved the art. (For the price, it's just about worth it for the art.)

I also handed the book to my 13 year old (who plays in my game and also runs Labyrinth Lord, sometimes). He thought it was awesome. In fact, he pretty much stole it (it's on his bookshelves, not mine). He's been studying it.

Made me smile.
