Definitely a fascinating guy. Sargent was my favorite writer of the 2E era, and top 3 fantasy writer of all time. I loved his almost, dry, historical sense of writing.

Mostly skipped his AD&D stuff (primarily because Greyhawk has never been of much interest), but I like most of what I saw for Warhammer and Shadowrun. Condolences.
