Encumberance Question

Okay Ill try to keep this as direct as I can - I tend to rqamble when trying to explain myself
OK- I am allow size large races as Player races like the Half ogre, the Minotuar etc in my game
I looked at the encumberance rules in C&C and I like the core idea of it.
Some of the numbers seem off - but *shrugs*
Here is my question
Since a size large critter can carry more - even beyound strength considerations would it be appropriate to increase thier base by a set amount?
I was thinking along the lines of +5 to the base.
So HUman sized characters get 10 + 2 for Str Prime, +2 for Con, Prime, and + thier Strength Bonus (ifany)
So Large sized characters get 15 + 2 for Str Prime, +2 for Con, Prime, and + thier Strength Bonus (ifany)
or should it be
HUman sized characters get 10 + 2 for Str Prime, +2 for Con, Prime, and + thier Strength Bonus (ifany)
So Large sized characters get 10 + 2 for Str Prime, +2 for Con, Prime, and + thier Strength Bonus (ifany) +4 for Size
Thank you
I realize this may be a bit beypound the core rules of C&C

1st, Did you read the Encumbrance Errata stickied in this sub-forum?
2nd, EV would be the same for a Large Character if he carried Large equipment, the issue is, how do you deal with EV for items that are not your size?
Since Size really isn't even considered in the Core, then you need to make it up, and determine how you will deal with Small/Medium/Large items on different size characters.
I'll have to think about this more before I can give you a better answer.
Luckily, in my game, I use Small/Medium/Large equipment and then just add a modifier based on the size differences or just ad hoc. It's not too often a Gnome (Small) has to carry a Medium weapon around.
Using the sizes for weapons/armor/equipment, I can almost ignore the size issue.

The creator of those rules is not a moderator here, and thus, cannot respond.
However, as this does not really involve design questions, but house-rules...
I would give a flat bonus for size, but factor in the size of equipment as well, mostly negating the bonus. A large creature, to me, would get a +6. However, large equipment would also receive a +2 (or more) modifier to EV.
So, being big only helps if you carry little things.

If you're going to use Small/Medium/Large equipment (I'd recommend this) then you can make a matrix like this:
---S M L
S X1 X2 X4
M X.5 x1 X2
L X.25 x.5 x1
Hope that makes sense, but you can cross reference and say:
A LARGE Two-Handed Sword has an EV 5 x4 (20) for a Small Character.
A SMALL Two-Handed Sword has an EV 5 x.25 (1) for a Large Character.
Since there isn't any Tiny, Diminutive, Huge, Colossal in C&C, you'll still have to adjudicate sizes and how they effect Encumbrance.

for encumberance, I use the base of stregnth stat instead of base 10. That may help

For a "heroic" campaign where the characters do battle in full adventure gear and carrying some treasue all at the same time, using the Strength Stat works fine.

In my games, unless its ridiculous (carrying four suits of plate mail and a solid gold statue), I don't really care. I try to avoid the bookkeeping whenever possible to make it more fun, for me, to run the game.
That said: as a houserule, I'd just give bigger dudes a bigger encumbrance maximum, and increase the EV of their gear, if its made for their size.

Sadly, this wasn't in the 3rd print of the PHB (though I hoped it would be). I'm not sure if it is in the 3rd print errata sticky since it has sticky of its own.

I'd say a mixture of the two methods listed, serleran's and wulfgarn's, would probably be best.
I'd probably do a -2 to the EV of any item for each Size shift below the creature's normal Size (minimum of 0). So, a Large creature carrying a 4 EV "Medium" Size item would actually only count it as a 2 EV item. The converse is true of going up, with a +2 to the EV for each shift. This would give a Medium creature carrying a Huge 1 EV item would actually count it as a 5 EV item (assuming Huge is two steps over Medium, that'd be a +4 to the base 1 EV). I'd also rule that Wearable items only get their "Wearable" quality bonus if the item is the same "scale" as the character wearing it.
This way you don't have to change the base #s of anything... everyone is scaled for the eqiupment of their appropriate Size. It only matters when you start mixing Scales.

Can it be linked to there then?

is this the place to ask: what is the capacity of a chariot if used for storage only?

I'd say: Wing It.
And: depends how high you can stack it
