Knight's Call-To-Arms Ability

The Knight class has a special ability listed that allows them to attract followers at 10th level. I have been considering importing the followers rules for Fighters, Clerics, Rangers, and Barbarians from AD&D into my C&C game.

My question is whether the Call-To-Arms ability is factored into the XP progression for the Knight as being one of their advantages.

If I would allow the other classes to attract followers, should their XP requirements to gain levels increase? Would allowing them to attract followers "devalue" the Knight class?

Hey Rusty,

Yes to a certain extent the xp progression effects the CTA ability but don't ask me for a precise #...Davis was the final say on that one.

What I'd suggest is allow other classes to call followers a la 1E but have the Knight's followers a higher starting level and/or fanatical loyalty. I know clerics get the latter automatically but the level difference should cover that.

Don't make the level of the followers too high though; the Knight is especially designed (as a class) to lead troops into battle and that'll be an advantage all by itself vis a vis another class's folllowers.
HTH,

Mike
