Troll Lord Games

OK, I was running Gary's Underdark portion of "Queen of the Spiders" last night and rolled a beholder for a random encounter.

The last sentence of the Prysmal Eye (C&C's version of the Beholder) indicates they are full fledged Illusionists. Was I wrong to make the assumption that they were Illusionists equal in level of power to their HD?

No -- in addition to their eye powers, they are illusionists, making them truly frightening foes. But, please, don't call them things they cannot possibly be.
