Sorry guys, this may be a stupid question, but what the heck is an Urk? I have poured over the module for an explanation, but there is none. Is it a variation of orc?

Good question. You might be right about the orc variation. In the PDF, there are several paragraphs missing from the print version, that seem to suggest urks are orcs.
But, I haven't done a complete comparison between versions as yet.
Hopefully, Davis or Peter might have some input on this!

Several paragraphs missing from the print version? GAK!
I wonder if urk shows up in the monsters of airhde, even though this is an Inzae type of creature. I feel like it is a hybrid type of orc, kind of like the Tolkien Urikai. It would be cool to get an official answer though. I keep running into cool words that describe places or things with no other references to explain what or where it is. While this inspires my imagination, I am drooling for more.

Its a different tribal name for an orc or goblin.
HA! I told em people would get confused by this...

Ha! Thanks for the answer Gideon; I figured it would be something simple. It would be cool to see the whole "tribal perspectives" explained and name variations for creatures expounded on a tad.

FYI, its the other way around. There are several paragraphs in the print version that aren't in the PDF.

Hey thanks for making that clear, syko. My post may have contributed to Piperdog's confusion, as I worded it poorly.

The PDF doesn't go into detail on Frisia like the print version. Also, the PDF has a completely different background story for Meister Ruthenheimer as well as Ubert von Beck. Mejketek is also completely cut from the PDF.
I have a question now.... according to the print version, there is supposed to be a free PDF available at the website containing the NPCs, maps, and other such stuff. Did this PDF never come about or am I just not looking in the right place?

It got lost in the shuffle. I prod the powers that be for the proper info to put this together every now and again, but the day to day keeps getting in the way.

Actually, an Uruk is simply Orc in Black Speech, while the Uruk-hai does refer to the specific Sauronic breed of more powerful Orcs that appeared circa Third Age 2475.

An "Urk" is the sound Davis makes when his tick dog racks him soundly while he's typing. Hence the name appearing in the modules.

It's a particularly angry and foul-tempered orc.

Correct. Uruk-Hai literally means "High Orc".

Are you suggesting that the Old Toby isn't tobacco????

An urk is the sound you make as you die, usually spitting blood or something equally delicious like bile.
