Best modules overall?

Post by danbuter »

Which are the best CnC modules to get? I know some of them have some serious issues (missing maps, et al). I have enough money to buy probably 3 or 4 of them, so I'd like your honest opinion about which are the cream of the crop. Also, if you think one of the Goodman Games modules would also qualify, feel free to list it. Thanks!

The best mods to get for your C&C buck are:

1.) Assault on Blacktooth Ridge

as well as the $1.00 .pdf "Return to Blacktooth Ridge" and "Back to Blacktooth Ridge" modules from RPGNOW.

2.) Shadows of Halfling Hall

3.) Dark Chateau (for Yggsburgh and Castle Zagyg). Some peaple complain that this module seems unfinished, but I like that aspect of it. You can freely add to what is already presented.

4.) DB2 The Crater of Umeshti for the Haunted Highlands setting

5.) DB3 Deeper Darkness (sequel to Crater of Umeshti)

Those are my favs in the C&C lines so far.

These are my top four:

U1 - Shadows of Halfling Hall

C1 - Mortality of Green

GG1 - The Mysterious Tower

U3 - The Verdant Rage

The Shadows of Halfing Hall gives you a detailed village ... which is a compelling backdrop to use for a lot more than the base adventure. Lots of great stuff in this one and my players have all loved it.

Mortality of Green is equally excellent and a completely different feel. Great wilderness/chase which invites itself to a lot of potential beyond the module.

The Mysterious Tower... the first Goodman Games conversion and a fun one. This is classic dungeon crawling and a solid adventure.

The Verdant Rage... I haven't run it yet, but I really want to. This is one of the ones that had a missing map problem but that is remedied easily enough by following this one of these two links:

The maps have been approved by the author of the module and is based on his drawing/sketch.

Other suggestions: Be sure to grab "The Lion in the Ropes" -- we had tons of fun going through that one... and it's FREE!

Hope this helps!

Howdy.

IMO, A1 - Assault on Blacktooth Ridge is simply the best C&C module hands down. The Rising Knight makes for a good intro to C&C and AoBtR.

Other great ones, include:

A2 Slag Heap

Shadows of Halfling Hall

Dark Chateau

Mortality of Green

Lion in the Ropes

Enjoy!

I'll also vote for A1 as best so far.

I am also really liking A4: Usurpers now -- C&C moves to the city!

My personal favorites are

1. C1 Mortality of Green

2. A1 Assault on Blacktooth Ridge

3. A Lion in the Ropes

4. A0 A Rising Knight

5. A1.1 Return to Blacktooth Ridge

6. A1.2 Back to Blacktooth Ridge

I just wish there were more modules set in the Kayomar region of Aihrde.

Wow, I'm surprised my personal fav 'Haunted Highlands' hasn't been mentioned yet.

It helps that I also had a great GM take me through it (insert accolade to Treebore here...)

Also, Mysterious Tower is simply fantastic, although I ran it as a 3.5 DCC.

Yeah, Haunted Highlands is great and all but I just don't see it as an adventure module as much as it is a setting primer.
