Deeper Darkness: Some Monte Cook book support
Hey, no offense, but this thread should probably go into the d20 or Crusades forum, methinks.
This module/release while it might be good, doesn't seem to belong in this forum.

Oh. I put it here since I read the Castles and Crusades adventure, DB 3, The Deeper Darkness and thought the forementioned books could expand the final encounters into an additonal campaign.
Hey you're right, sorry.
I didn't notice the Dirty Bowbe reference, duh?
Any stuff that would with with DB's stuff would be of interest.
Ignore me.

Any and all really come to mind.
Understand I didn't have the copy of chaositec a player picked it up at my suggestion after I had looked through it and found a lot of the stuff in it similar to things that he wanted to do with his ratman character.
The player's choices happened to be valid for City of Brass, but would have been off the boards (for a player anyhow).
That said, he wanted a chemical weapon tank/hose combo to wear as a backpack with transplanted eyes to help with targeting.
I would think that some breed of thune (such as surgeons and highborn) would have the intellect and capacity for such weaponry at their disposal, as well as any pseudo bionic attachments that would increase their attack bonus, or damage, or both which really is what a lot of the Chaositec material was about.
Monte got a lot of inspiration for that from Lovecraft and probably to a lesser extend Clark Ashton Smith. You can see the development of the Chaositec stuff straight out of his treatment of call of Cthulhu d20.
I too am a fan of both, as well as some of the more sci fi elements of Wilderlands of High Fantasy, Robert E Howard, and even the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Gary used a lot of similar stuff with Expedition to Barrier Peaks.
Stuff from Clive Barker's Imajica is also good inspirational material for the wierdness of the Thune. Moreso than a similar tho not analogous take we had with the N'gathau in Tome of Horrors II. I was going for more alien/fantasy, Scott Greene was similarly in my camp but another writer took it a bit more towards hellraiser as did the artist that White Wolf Hired... a bit too much for my comfort.
With the Thune, think science that works like magic, or is powered by magic of a particularly dark and chaotic evil vein... like some of the stuff encountered by Thundarr and his band of friends in the old cartoon. Such chaositec items would certainly be used to enhance their already buff supernatural abilities.
I can imagine Thune torture machines thinly hidden in the guise of "research". Bolt throwers that hurled thune venom syringes for example. I COULD totally go on, but in the interest of possibly developing thune materials further in a print product or crusader article, I'll hold off for now
Case
Primitive but very stylized machinery
