One question, treebore...Did your players have a good time/find the module interesting? I strive to make each mod a fun experience with unique settings and memorable encounters.

Yes, we had a good time, these were just things I did to toughen up the gnolls themselves. Apparently I over did it, because I said there were three more caves of Gnolls. So they sabotaged the ladders, etc... and spent three weeks starving them out.

lol. Sounds like a fun gaming sesssion. An interesting strategy. I'm curious...How did they sabatoge the ladders both above and below? Fireballs?

Darkness spells can be cast on objects. Like arrows. 50 foot area of effect. Good screen for them to go up and take the time to cast glyph at the bottom of each ladder. Then they destroyed a couple of the hand/foot holds below each ledge.
The gnolls tried climbing down by ropes, but that ended up being too deadly. Then they ran out of supplies. then they ran out of young ones to eat. Then by the time they had "settled" who was going to be food and who wasn't, they were so weakened the party easily killed off who was left.
There were things I could have done by cheating, but since the party knew they had taken out the chieften and shaman, and knew the lair they already had taken out had to be the best supplied and equipped, I couldn't really change the resources of the other groups without obviously cheating. So I just let them have their easy, yet tedious, victory.

Hey, the fact that you bothered to address the other cave dwellings impresses me. That's a lot of turf to cover.
I'm guessing you placed it somewhere in your campaign world where the rest of the gnolls couldn't go unheeded...hence the party must clear the area for some land liege or capture it for themsleves.

Yep. I placed it between the Slaag Heap and Ludensheim areas, right on the N/W border that this party's liege lord had recently been given control over.
They are now considering turning this area into a "refuge". A place the people can run to when a known danger is advancing. Sort of their equivelent of Helm's Deep.
I decided this area was created by the Hrueset River an age or two in the past.
BTW, with the details you gave you had to have seen its real world equivelent. Where is that?

Not too far from you. It's called "Mesa Verde". It's 275 miles from Flagstaff and only 66 miles from 4-corners (utah, arizona, new mexico, colorado).
Yeah, we saw that and many, many other incredible places on our 4000 mile family camping trip last summer. Beautiful place.
If you go there, drive the route past monument valley and check out the incredible view of the vermillian cliffs (we took that route from the north ridge of the Grand Canyon to Mesa Verde). Saw it at sunset...awesome.
For more info look here:

Here's a pic we took of the vermillian cliffs

Well, we usually spend our Christmas up in Flafstaff or Sedona (Fairfield Resorts), so maybe we can incorporate a road trip into our vacation time.

Worth the trip. Also arches and canyonlands and bryce canyon and zion canyon. All cool places. I hope to make it out west again before the kids are all grown.

Hey Robert,
We do the Fairfield thing too! But we mainly stick to the East Coast!

Cool. We have "rolled over", or banked our points for the last two years, including this year. So next year we will have six weeks worth of Prime time built up. Hope we get to use them, I don't think we can talk Fairfield into allowing us to do another ''banking" without putting it into RCI.

I tried to "roll" points this year, but I was forced to deposit with RCI.
I have a couple of other weeks in the RCI system. We own at Orange Lake Country Club in the Orlando area. We love to go there every 3-4 years. Lately, as I have had kids graduating from high school, we use our week and exchange for a second week there. The graduate and his friends stay in one unit, and my wife and I and the other children stay in the other. We did this again this past June for our second son, and it has been a big hit with all the friends. My twins will be graduating in 3 years, and they are already talking about their graduation trip - except, they want to go to England
I am a big fan of time sharing and have managed to exchange to some amazing places.

RCI has some nice England locations.
The only reason we were able to "bank" with RCI is that we have had major medical reasons (had to show documentation), plus they screwed up paper work when we changed ownership from Orlando to Sedona.
I'm thinking of selling, though. With my wifes medical issues I don't see us travelling much. Anyone want about 205,000(?, might be 210 or 215)) points for $20,000.00? Sedona, AZ as home base? A good trading location. Not as hot as our Orlando was but good enough so far. Rated equally to Orlando by Fairfield.

Which Orlando location did you own?
We have some points at Star Island.
I tried to convince my wife to exchange to Sedona a couple of years back, but she didn't think there would be much to do. As a result, by the time I convinced her, it was no longer available. We ended up exchanging to Cathedral City, CA near Palm Springs.

At the time we bought into it, the location was the newest of 3 Fairfields in Orlando. Close to Star Island, if I recall correctly.
Sedona is not an "action" place. IT is a trail walking, mountain climbing, horse riding, relaxing kind of location.
