Need Some Advice

I am looking for some advice. My wife has agreed to CK me through a "solo" C&C game....woo hoo!!! However, not only does she have limited GMing experience, conversion is really more that I think she needs to worry about at this point.
Initially I was looking to have her run me through "Blood Brothers" from the 1 on 1 Adventures Line by Expeditious Retreat Press. However, as this is a 3e module, its more difficult to convert and GMing at higher levels (in my opinion) is also more difficult. I eventually scrapped the idea and have decided instead to provide her a prewritten C&C module that requires no conversion.
My question is....what adventure would be the best choice? I am trying to run a single character at lower levels. I would consider a second character or a hireling (sidekick), but am trying to stay away from running a full "party". I've read some of Shadows of Halfling Hall and Rising Knight, so those are out. How about The Haunted Highlands and or Dro Mandras? I'd like to hear your thoughts guys and any suggustions are welcome!

Have you read Assault on Blacktooth Ridge? That is an excellent choice. Some of the older TLG modules, some recently converted to C&C, would also make excellent starter modules.
I would suggest B2, but as she is an inexperienced CK, it's best if the stats are C&C and not basic D&D.

Have you tried the Towers of Adventure?

The Rising Knight?
The Golden Familiar?
The Lure of Delusion?
Good adventures all.

Thanks for weighing in guys. I appreciate the input. I've also considered Blacktooth Ridge...that might be an option. What level do you thinking a pair of characters would need to be to survive it alone?
I've already read throught Rising Knight, so that won't work. Golden Familiar is a little be too high of level. Lure of Delusion looks interesting, but is it a bit short?
Anybody have any thoughts on Haunted Highlands or Dro Mandras?

With a full group of PCs at GenCon, the shortest it (Lure) ran was about 4.5-5 hours. It's a fun adventure.

But aren't most of those better for a party of adventurers?
Or will there be more than one character?
That said, I may be a bit biased, but the Ruins of Ramat that just came out might fit the bill.

I'd want to look up some of the solo adventures from the glory days of O/AD&D. I know there are some out there. The question becomes converting it.

Basically you just flip the AC over (Subtract O/AD&D AC from 20 for C&C AC) and 'scrap' the extra stuff (THAC0 and Saves) and your done.

Yeah, that's what I do. The trick, though, is that the wife is the one who will have to do the conversion. If she's more of a noob than Tron, then the conversion becomes more difficult, as I trust he wants to be surprised through the adventure.

Why not use Rising Knight? Because you've read it, it will help both your wife and yourself. You would be able to assist your wife with questions when she has them, and you'll know be able to gauge how she is doing. If all goes well, than move on to A1, which you do not know and she'll feel more confident.
Good luck.

+1 on Assualt on Blacktooth Ridge. It's a good starting place, plenty of NPCs and good places for you to explore and simple enough for her to get her feet wet CKing.
If you came in with a 'hireling' there are plenty of NPCs she could throw in to assist you. According to the recommendations in the A1, its 3 to 5 PCs of 1st/2nd Level. So Your minimum based on that would be a party of 3 at 1st Level, should be able to do it.
Another option if you still want to consider the conversion, which is relatively minot - prelude to Gaxmoor adventure found in Codex: Erde. It's short, but another good way to begin for new CKs
Another +1 to Towers of Adventure, she'll have plenty of different towers to throw at you, which might make a good intro as well.

You know I was going to suggest Ruins of Ramat but there is one encounter that I think would be very difficult for two characters.

Good idea, this!

I don't recommend Haunted Highlands or Dro Mandras for a CK's first attempt. Both of these modules are very open ended with no particular plot or anything. I love both of them, but I think something a little more linear and smaller in scope would be easier for someone new.

Ok guys, after careful consideration....I planning to have her run Rising Knight. I think your points were valid ones. The adventure is simple to run and complete, just what she needs. I've never actually run it, only read through it...so hopefully I won't remember that much
Anyway, I'm thinking of running two characters through: a dwarven cleric and a dwarven fighter. I'll roll up ability scores with the 4d6 method, give max hit points and 1st level, and start them at 2nd level. Sieg had an article in Crusader about fleshing out the equipment and treasure of characters who begin at levels higher than first....I'm planning to use that as well.
So what do you think? Does my proposed party have a "chance"? Should I consider starting them at 3rd level? Should I add henchmen or maybe an attack dog?

You'll probably survive, if the dice don't hate you. Definitely have a couple of healing potions, since you can get hit a lot. Get your AC as high as possible too. A Paladin would be practically unhittable.

Yes, hire a henchmen/hireling from the NPC's - I used about 3 of them.
Perhaps she will let you run one and she can run one ~ and this should give you a fighting chance and a more interesting game.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

Yes, to this as well. One of my players thought to do this and of course, having a dog is very helpful!!
