Yes. This is correct. If my count is correct, everyone has earned a total of 11 VP's, minus any used. Which hasn't been very many.

BTW, new XP total in very first post of this thread, like Rigon does for his game. Some of you might have finally leveled.


11, wow more than I thought ! I'm sure I'll need them all and more next game ...

For exp, I'm still shy for the next level, but getting closer - So you are tracking I plan on spending my power slot on giving my entangle a radius effect.

After that, I'll start focusing on role playing the work with the seminary to buy down the insanity points (2 thus far) and at level 2 will try and buy off the insanity shortfall

Then ... the choices are many - bamphing, telekinesis (with a shadow tentacle type effect), increased hardiness, or more skill levels

Hmmmm. I calculated as if you were involved. I supposed I should keep a session to session record, but in the long run its probably best to keep those of you who show up the majority of the time on par with those who almost always make it.

Anyone concerned enough with XP to disagree?

Game tomorrow. I SHOULD be recovered enough from this frikkin cold to be able to run a game for 3 hours. If not we will just stop when I can't handle talking anymore.

Nope not me ... it is easier just to keep us all the same.

Hope you feel better. I've been fighting a cold myself and my wife has been hard down with one for most of the last 2 weeks so know how you feel.

Oh yeah ...

With the anti zoro knowing my history and thoughts, he will KNOW my inclination is to fall back to a safe position, and call for help. That would mean falling back to that 3rd safe house and sending word back to ... Boston ... ( think Boston is where I've implied my boss is) , so he should be expecting me to head that way, or not be surprised when I do, and know where I'm going when I go that way.

As last night showed, VP's are a bit over powered. Rather than do a complete retro/overhaul, lets weaken them a bit. They can now only be used to force rerolls, and only once per situation. To force a success or failure on a roll, it costs 3 VP's. Which must be declared and spent prior to a roll being made. They can be used to re roll Initiative, as well as spend 3 to ensure maximizing your Initiative.

Lets see if that weakens their effect enough to justify earning them so easily.

I will also put a cap on how many can be "saved". You can never have more than 10 saved up. Excess are lost forever. This cap goes into effect AFTER our next session.

Sounds reasonable, though I must note that the auto-giving of a VP every game was a typo. VPs were only meant to be given for exceptional RP at the table, or 1 at level increase. In the playtesting I don't think we ever had anyone with more than 3 at a time....and that was rare!

Understood. I'm thinking if nothing else I can convert my decade long house rules for Luck to the VP system for my Victorious games. IE same uses, same rate of acquisition, and so on.

This is the Luck system I have used for my C&C games. Pretty sure we have used them for over a decade. Darn close to it, at least.

LUCK POINTS:

You get one luck point +1 per level. So two at level one.

Luck points are used to:

Get a re-roll on an attack roll, save, or SIEGE check. Only 1 re-roll allowed.

To turn a death attack to near death. If an attack outright kills your PC you can permanently burn a luck point to put your character at death's door instead. That means at -6 HP. So Grievously wounded but not dead, and not bleeding out.

You don't refresh your Luck points until your goal/mission is accomplished. This is defined as whatever over all goal your party is working towards. Such as recovering an item, escorting this person/caravan from point A to point Z, finding the daughter of the merchant, etc... NOT when short term goals are accomplished.

Lost/permanently burned luck points are regained anytime I witness you roll 3 Nat 20's to hit, make a save, or SIEGE check in one game session. So make sure I keep track of them, and make sure I witness your rolls. Otherwise its up to me to trust/believe you. I may just deny the validation simply to encourage/motivate you to make sure I witness your rolls.

We have no itnel, no location, no idea on what exactly it is, what it looks like, know it goes unseen, attacks from afar, untraceable, and it knows where I am and what I am doing at all times.

Let me just remind you how her minion was giving you all so much trouble, until you took him on as a group, instead of just 1 or 2 of you.

I am not running a Daredevil or Spiderman or Batman game. I am running an X-men, Justice League, Legion of Super Heroes, Avengers style game.

Your enemies are tough enough to be a challenge to your entire group, so they will certainly be more than any one of you can handle.

This is with me starting all of us off easy, because I am learning at least as much as any of you are, except Mike, about how to run Victorious, and balance the encounters, etc... So I have selected enemies I KNOW you all can defeat, likely with ease, once you get them where you want them, and bring the power of your group to bear.

This is one of the hardest things (in my experience) to do with any superhero game. Its way too easy to do a Justice League (comic version) things with everyone going off in twos and threes to solve a problem. We should instead be working like the above mentioned X-men and really pound each villain in turn by coordination. This will require some trust I think, but IMO Faith is the perfect glue for the team as she insures honesty.

BTW, did we ever find out about that damn cat? ;)

I didn't know that was possible, & Roger, having no experience with telepaths wouldn't know it ... Sooooo some one will need to tell him.

Rgr, & I like the idea of team work, heck it is the foundation of military SOF teams.

I even don't mind being the 'bait' for defeating said bad guys.

My issue - again personal outlook, not a critique, swipe at the game etc - is my mindset is default to lower power settings (even in the comic books I read and preferred back in the day). So I'm having to learn to think and deal with higher level power setting .

All that said, hope you all big brain people in the party can come up with a good plan on how to ambush the bigger brained bad guy, and point Roger in the direction you need him to go.

This is a low power setting. Granted, it isn't the lowest you can possibly do with Victorious, but for a full "super human" game, this is still very low power. Look at what all of you can do, and your all only first level. Now just try to imagine where you would be if we play until your all 20th level.

I used to be an avid reader of Comics, DC, Marvel, First, Image, and a couple of other comic equivalents of "Third Party" publishers I am blanking on right now. Even now I have access to Marvel Unlimited, which has something like 14,000 comics uploaded to it, for me to read whenever I want. Then I have a few hundred on Comixology that I own. Plus I still have a fair number of Graphic Novels as well as huge compilation books for Iron Man, Man Thing, and a few others. So while I am no where near as avid about comics as I used to be (frankly, it just got too damn expensive. I was spending over $100/month just to keep up with the titles I read.), I still read a fair amount to this day.

I read as "low powered" as Conan and Red Sonja, to non Super titles like Batman, Sable, Warlord, and others, to all the incredibly powerful characters.

So I think I have a very good feel for all the power levels possible in the worlds of comics.

So if we play until just 10th level, you guys are going to be amazingly powerful in their own right. Godlings by 20th level.

Which I think I can handle. I've already statted out a 20th level "Dr Evil", just to get a feel of where the game rules can take things. Who knows? Maybe this game will last long enough for me to actually use Dr Evil against your characters! Which would be somewhere between 10th to 15th level. Unless I decide to have something like "The League of Doom", or some other super powered evil group that are all at or close to 20th level.

I don't know. Won't know until we see how long you guys want to play Victorious.

OK, after thinking about, and even talking about, powers being visible by default, I am making a House Rule. IE I am not going by how Mike says to do it. Not all powers are "visible" by default. Shooting flames, and the like, will obviously be "visible". Changing your shape will obviously be visible. Using Telepathy, or creating Phantasms, will not be "visible" in the sense that it will reveal the person using that power. I will be using all those comics I mentioned having read over the course of my life as my inspiration for making such rulings. By and large, at least to those of us familiar with the Supers genre, players should be able to figure out how I will rule based upon iconic comic heroes with the same, or similar, ability or abilities.

Psycho Kinetic powers are the power I will mostly likely need to clarify on a character by character basis. Hopefully, the players concept will self define how it manifests.

That can be done. Just like the given examples, the higher level one will give the other a higher penalty. Faith is only Rank 1. So Faith can try to find her, but she will have to get lucky, or burn 3 VP's. I imagine G would be willing to burn 3 VP's for a definite success.
