Extra damage, extra attack, or go crazy and use a table like myself???

Just seems rolling a 20 or a 1 on an attack was always followed by something cool, or lethal. Now its like, yeah whatever, take the 2 damage and I'll see ya in 10 seconds....

My regular house rolls allow for crits. I purposefully left them out cause I wanted to see how things went without house rules. If the party wants them, I will add them.
Up to you. Just throwing it out there.....

So far not having crits has kept two of our PC's alive. Finster and Zaragon. Crits were rolled against both of us, and if they had been doubled, we would have went below -10. It was in that fight where I still ended up being taken captive, and then later escaped. I think other PC's benefited similarly, but I wasn't playing them, so didn't take note of it like I did with the PC's I was controlling.

Combine that with what I was told about the sessions I missed as well, if crit rules applied, I suspect most of our party would already NOT be original PC's. I think I would likely be on my third, maybe 4th PC by now.

So if we are going to bring crits back in I suggest we wait until level 4 or higher.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Perhaps you are correct Tree, and to play devils advocate, maybe some of us would have rolled some 20's, and killed critters quicker and before they dealt more damage to us. Its all relative if we are speaking in hypothetical terms :)

Either way, most people will probably vote to not have it, if Nate chooses to leave it up to people. That is fine too. I think most people don't want to risk having their PC's get killed by a crit.

I think in Josh's game last year, only myself and Slimy choose to use our Crit table. Others never used it. At least the option was there.

If its just double damage, then waiting for 4th level as Tree suggests is fine, I am cool with it whatever route people wanna take. My name sake; Lord Seurek, was a PC I played in this same module with Slimy 15 years or so ago. I know how deadly it can be (with or without nat 20 head chopped off rolls) :)

No crits is fine with me, as is free second attack or even automatic max damage. I am not a fan of the various "Good Hits and Bad Misses" tables for a long list of boring reasons.

I won't reiterate them here. Ironically, I listed them back when the same Nwelte started his first game years ago and the same Lord Seurek suggested criticals :D

I am glad just to hit things. I am ok with by the book, and like Tree says, I don't want to start getting critted, especially when we start going against multiple attack critters. I don't get bored with a hit here, a miss there. To me it's "a hit here!" "a miss there!".

My preference is pretty mild, though. If the group wants crits and Nate doesn't mind (this was going to be an experiment in by-the-book), it's fine by me.

I do 20 = max damage in my games. It's a nice little reward for a good roll and isn't too detrimental to PCs.

So, last session we were each directly given 100gp by Rufus and Burne?
Whatever we sold went into the party share...
Is the loot on Epic Words current? It looks like it was last updated before our last game.
Should we just divide it evenly?

Do we owe anything to Furnoc? He just walked away and didn't say anything so I think we are obligation free.

I don't think the tables are boring, but everyone is entitled to their own view on it. A fumble could mean a twisted knee, dirt in the eye, hitting a friend by accident, all adds flavor to a hit-miss type of encounter. Plus, depends on what table you are referring to. Some are quite interesting, and some are not.

And yes Kurt, I do remember you shooting it down years ago when I played in Nate's game. Just wanted to throw it out there is all.

I guess I should be checking the Epic Words site for xp/loot, which I forget to do.

Yeah, I have discovered there are certain aspects of by the book that I hate., but you never know until you try. I may make changes, but will not make any changes without party majority approval.
Aergraith wrote:So, last session we were each directly given 100gp by Rufus and Burne?
Yes, but party loot will reflect the 700 gp awarded.
Aergraith wrote:Whatever we sold went into the party share...
I personally don't care who the party divides treasure. I just called it "party share" because that is how I am tracking overall wealth. I am trying to be detailed in my record keeping. I have a very nice spreedsheet I created that is working great.
Aergraith wrote:Is the loot on Epic Words current? It looks like it was last updated before our last game.

No, Epic Words is not current. I was attempting to update it and got distracted. I will make a corrected entry and take care of it tonight when I update everything.

As for division, party decision.
Aergraith wrote:Do we owe anything to Furnoc? He just walked away and didn't say anything so I think we are obligation free.
I assigned him portions of the loot before posting it. So with the CK's wave of the hand I just reduced coin by 1/8 while he was in the party. The net result, very little went to Furnoc.

I will start posting the party coin total in the first thread here as well. Use Epic words if you like it. I am using to to keep secret notes online because my handwriting sucks.

The tables aren't boring, my list of reasons is (as the bolded portion of my quote above clarifies). If anything, the tables are a bit too "not boring"

Perfectly good idea on your part. It's just not my thing.

As promised, the first post is updated with EXP and party coin. Remember I added the 100 gp ea (700 gp) into the party coin. In addition to the coin, the party still has the silver snuff box, exp. studded armor, exp. battle axe (+1 to dam.).

Feel free to divide gold and submit a shopping list. I will post what the sale price is. Some items may take time to get in or cannot be obtained at all to do the limits of craftsmen in town.

How many PC's are in this game? 6? Wondering for spliting the coin evenly.

I had taken the exp studded armor, but we can throw my scale mail into the pot to sell. I put up my halberd I found at the moathouse, too, if I need to buy that stuff from the party share. For non-magical, do you want to set a depreciation percentage? Do you want to track normal items?

I need to get the exp studded armor appraised if I need to buy from the party share.

Well, if there are "steven" then each PC should get 3/4s of a Derek, if I am doing the Nwelte Proper Name Arithmetic (tm) correctly

FYI on coin distribution:

PP: 6; GP: 2178; SP: 9; CP: 7

converting the 6 PP to GP, there are 2238 gp / 7 PC's = 319 each (5 remaining)

Converting the 5 GP to SP, there are 59 SP / 7 PC's = 8 each (3 remaining)

Coverting the 3 sP to CP, there are 10 CP / 7 PC's = 1 each (3 remaining)

Each PC gets 319 gp, 8 sp, 1 cp (with 3 cp left over)

Zaragoth will take 1 PP in place of 10 GP

FYI Nate et al.

My daughter has picked up a respiratory infection called croup (its like bronchitis in small children). My wife and I have been up til 5ish the past few nights with her.

I intend on playing tonight. Will be a game time decision for me. Even if I do log on, I may need to step away during the game.

If so, Tree or someone else can run Zaragoth.

I have had significant problems with the build MT we are using. Namely, saved campaigns become corrupt and suddenly disappear. I am tired of losing my data. Accordingly please update MT to the newest build.

The only bug I've run into with 1.3b84 is if you use the "lock movement" option in the initiative window - it causes MT on client PC to crash repeatedly.
