EDIT: Will a webcam work with SKYPE?

I have been watching prices on them, since playing online with SKYPE. I'm surprised and disappointed with their unusually high pricing. I've had webcams since Win98 and they've been much cheaper.

The quality has only increased slightly and compared to all the other computer accessories, I find this accessory to be dis-proportionally overly high priced and so haven't bought one for vista/xp.
I'm hoping that I'll catch a sale/bargain/discount and would very much like to see how a game via SKYPE could be enhanced.

Classes I have heard about so far:

A ranger who "specializes" against undead instead of humanoids.

Probably should call it "Undead Hunter" rather than "Ranger".

A dwarven Cleric.

You can find a decent webcam at Best Buy for only $35. Since headsets seem to be about as costly (I've even seen several for over $100), I was thinking on just getting a webcam instead. Wanted one for awhile anyway, and this would give me another excuse to finally get one.

Treebore, can you list which of us are in which group? That way we could start group threads and discuss the party makeup.

My current Monday night group is group 1.

Hopefully, schedules permitting, everyone else, so far, is group two.

So that would be you, Dyne, Geleg, Gnat, DangerDwarf, and hopefully someone else I am forgetting right now. Whom I believe I talked to last night on SKYPE.

We won't really know until nights are decided. I remember one of you posting said they need to do weekends.

So I am hoping a Thursday night and a Saturday night will work for everyone who ends up signing up.

So can people tell me if Thursday or Saturday, or both, will be good for them? Or neither?

Start time will be either 5 or 6 PM PST, so that will be 8 or 9 PM EST, ending at 11 or 12 PM. So if I can get a group with EST and central times they will be 5 PM PST, and if I can get a group that is all CST and PDT the start time will be 6 PM PST.

Unless I find that 4 to 6 of you can actually play during the day on weekdays.

Great! Thursdays are good for me. I play my own campaign on Saturday nights and sometimes Sundays, so those days are out for me.

Yeah it was me who you talked to last night on SKYPE. and I am definatly in.

While I would prefer a Friday or Saturday night, I can pull a Thursday night game too, fridays are usualy pretty quiet at work so a full nights sleep isnt a strict requirement
I am almost done my character (I mentioned it to you last night, the dwarven cleric) all I have left to do is pick my equipment. Once I am done I will PM you a copy of the character to make sure everything is done properly

good, with you and Mike that makes a full 6 if everyone else can do Thursday. Four if DD and the one who asked to play weekends can't do that.

So DD, any idea what day will work most reliably for you? Time frame?

When will you see the October schedule?

If this is going to be 2-3 sessions, I'm off the first 3 fridays and saturdays in October.

It could be 1/4 of one session.
But yes, I am guessing 3 sessions at most.

We'll have to see how many of "group 2" can do Friday nights.

dude, it sounds great.

I can do thursday or saturday nights. Heck, I can do any night save wednesdays.

unfortunately I will be out of town Fri-Sat 8-9 October, and again the last weekend in October (27 October?). I have fall break 17-20 october and could do mucho gaming that weekend, if needed.

Three hour slots will be perfect for me. Although I'm on the east coast, I can do an 8 pm EST start.

Thursday night would work perfectly for me. Though, I could also do Friday or Saturday (or any other day of the week for that matter). I would prefer weekday nights over weekends, but either would be fine with me.

Thursdays work for me, though I don't know if I can start before 6 P.M. PST due to work. Fridays really wouldn't work unless we were playing at a later time (I wouldn't be available until 8 P.M. Pacific, probably).

In general, I'm pretty open Monday thru Thursday nights, and Saturday and Sunday until 5 P.M. pacific. Friday nights I wouldn't be available until later, as I said. Hope that helps!

Looks like I can probably do Thursdays during that time frame as well. If there are still seats available on Thursday nights, sign me up.

It looks like this is coming together, and will possibly have 3 full groups of 6. I even found another player over on ENWorld.

Treebore, I'd be interested, but I'm not sure if I'd be available (last slot is Thursday, right? I'm PST, what times would that work out for me?) and I still need to replace my headset...

6 to 9 PM right now. Not sure when we change times. I think in the winter AZ goes with Central Time (AZ never turns its clocks FWD or back).

Thursday group: Mike, Geleg, Yzarcrits, Dyne, Gnat, and

Kaomara (tentative, still needs to confirm)

Friday Group: (starts first Friday in OCtober)

Danger Dwarf, Spak, nwelte, jaybird, Lurker,

ENWorlder if he responds to PM sent today

Look right? Tentative start time is 6 PM. I can go earlier or later, so the question is your time needs. So talk to your group members and see what you each want to play, etc...

Plus I would like to have a SKYPE test run some time in the month of September, preferably as a group on your day, but I know at least DD may not be able to do it that way.

It will probably help to give your group members your own SKYPE ID's once you get them. Remember, my ID is earlier in this thread, heck I'll repeat it here: Treebore.therubylord

My Skype is Jaybird216. Not hard at all to remember.

6pm Eastern is too early for me. I work until 6:30 and don't get home until 7 (eastern).
