I've never played/DMed in the Ravenloft setting, but understand that you're placing this campaign in Greyhawk.

Any restrictions on classes allowed, etc?

As per what I posted in the Ravenloft recruitment thread if its in the PH or M&T its allowed, if its +3 or lower in bonus'.

Plus its not a campaign. Its more like your "one shots", but will last however many 3 hour sessions the group lasts.

As of right now, I'm leaning toward a ranger who is an "undead hunter" type. But I'm open to playing whatever the party needs.

I can't see myself not being a cleric in the castle of undead...

I've pretty much decided to go with a ranger character. Not sure wether or not it will be a human, elf, or half-elf yet though.

As the 1st of October is a Monday, I vote we start our conquest of Castle Ravenloft on that date at our regularly scheduled time.

Then suggest that to the group tonight. I'm fine with it.

3 more sessions to appease the rangers of the waste, defeat the Evil Wizard in the City, and take out that ancient red dragon we missed on our way in here...it'll be tight, but I think we just might make it.

Hold on to your hats kids!

I think Rhu has been leaning towards another Paladin or Cleric. Rhu?

I'll be playing a fighter, and Bran (another player) will be playing a paladin.

that is all

No wizards? or rogues?

By 'eck, it could get messy in there

(Keep in mind Titania, that the Fighter gets a little cheated by our "Level 9" limit, since their best feature at higher levels (2nd attack) comes at 10th level.

Thieves are tasty treats in Ravenloft. Besides how can you backstab something that is already dead? Nothing "critical" to damage.

One advantage you guys get over the other two groups is... My house rules. You guys already know them, they don't. So I'll allow SIEGE checks to get additional attacks, and the fighter will have a significantly better chance to succeed, since they get to add not only their level, but their specialization bonus and STR or DEX bonus when they make such attempts with their specialized weapon. All other fighter types only get to add their level. So if they have an 18 STR, which I bet Titania's character will, her PC will have an additional +4 to such SIEGE checks.

Maybe I should write up my new house rules document and see if the other groups want to utilize it.

Right. But for trap finding they might be valuable. I do not know enough about Ravenloft to know if trap finding is valuable. Clerics can do that to a limited extent anyway.

I think we can do without forward observers (thieves) but I pity the fool who thinks he can succeed at higher levels without artillery (mages)

Good point, but for a 10th level fighter, would that SIEGE check not be for the 3rd attack? Or is there some limit?

To take it to an absurd (almost 3E) extent, what if Titania was a 10th level high dexterity fighter, wielding dual hammers of disruption, under the influence of a haste spell, who made a SIEGE check for an extra attack

Would that be 1 (normal) +1 (2nd weapon) + 1 (high level fighter) +1(haste spell) +1 (SIEGE check) = 5 ATTACKS!! And if on an undead, every succesful one will require a save or be destroyed.

Imagine the carnage.

Good point. For campaign purposes the risk (age one year and maybe lose 1 HP permanently) of casting the C&C haste have kept them from using it.

However, with Ravenloft being a one shot type of deal players will use it, since its not a campaign character.

Yeah, still studying. I'm reading and memorizing everything there is to know about every single undead creature and their weaknesses and will then decide!! Just kidding.

Actually, I'm re-reading all the classes for 9th level as I'm so unknowledgable with regard to high level play.

Should have an idea soon.

My character is finished. I just need to find some time to type him up. As soon as I get a minute or three, I'll send him to ya, Tree.

I know that I am on the "Face Pressed up against the Glass" list,

but I have been throwing around some ideas for a character and have one fleshed out and some thoughts on a few more.

First I bring you Brother Solomon the Half-Orc Monk (Previously played to 12th level in 3rd Edtion)

Stosh the Brave - Halfling Fighter (Previously Stosh Andovar the Brave of Original D&D 8th level Sheriff, then a 1st edition Fighter thief and finally a 3rd edtion Fighter - made 9th level)

Marah De'Vain of House De'Vain a - Marah of the Bloodied Rose Paladin

(Originally 1st edition Ad&D) tossing around either Human or 1/2 Elven (favoring the Human side)

Brynnja Human Cleric (originally a 3rd edition Barbarian 2/Cleric 9th )

Or some other

Pretty much anything can be enchanted. Heck, if feathers (Quoul's Tokens) can be enchanted, the question should be is there anything that can't be?

Some GM's have a thing for not allowing a Monks fists to have weapons enchantments on them

I was specifically asking can a cestus be used in conjunction with a monks open hand attacks

in the book it states it is a +1 to damage

Simply my answer is yes. I was just saying to not allow such things to be enchanted makes no sense to me.

Ok Who all is in the Monday Group- I have gotten my self all confused by the number of different days

Treebore can you post a House rules thread combining your House rules for the Ravenloft Games-

How do you feel about Multiclassed Characters

Posted: Wed Sep 12, 2007 1:26 am
by Wulfgarn
It sounds like we do not have a Wizard in the group - hmmmmm

I was really leaning toward the Monky but If we need a Wizard I will look into playing one of those

I will build 2 or three characters

and post them and we as a group can decide what I Play

I did have a Modified 3rd Edition character that survived a 2 Year campaign.

Baron Mordenhiem Enkilli Wallace

the only thing that would really be at odds with him and C&C is that he was Knighted and gifted Judgements Edge (a Greatsword with Keen +1 and Ice on it )

Mordenhiem retired at level 10 having 1 Level of Noble and 9 levels of Wizard in him

He also had a Mechanical Familiar ( a wingned Serpent - that excreted silver coins every day - Kept me in drinking money)

hmmmmm

Well I will see about putting him together as well - It would be very good to play him again

The Monday group is Treebore's regular Monday night Skype group. There is Me, Rhu, Slimey, Tree's daughter and son, and Aramis.

As far as the group make up for Ravenloft, I'm not sure what everyone else is playing, but I'm definately playing a ranger.

Yeah, Wulfgarn is in the Friday group, I thought. He's definitely not in the Monday group.

Plus the "house rules" are in the thread titled "Ravenloft (I6 ) C&C style. The important ones are posted in the OP of the thread.

The only additional ones are that Wizard types can buy +4 or +5 items.

The only other thing I mentioned is that if anyone wants to play a thief I can let them be 10th level.
