Saturday Campaign - The Rising Knight

This will be a text-chat game using Skype text-chat and Gametable on Saturdays at 1:30pm PST (roughly 8:30 or 9:30 GMT). I should warn you that there will also be home-made classes converted from other editions, to accomodate some of the players' preferences..

We are going to keep in touch through Skype in order to coordinate things (I am "ssfsx17" on Skype). By request, I can send you my home-made versions of the Archaeologist, Kensai or Sorceror classes if you so desire to play as them.

If you haven't been scared away yet, here are the character creation rules:

Your stats are 18, 17, 17, 16, 15, 14. They make look a little high, but believe me, you'll need them! Arrange those however you want.

You may split a prime into two half-primes.

Maximum hitpoints for the first level.

You can multi-class for up to three different classes under the following house rules:

- Hitpoints are all added together. Bonuses or penalties from CON are counted every single time.

- Use the BtH of the class that has the highest current BtH.

- Useable weapons include everything from all your classes, unless one of your classes is Cleric or Druid. Monk offensive abilities only work with Monk weapons.

- Wearing armor or shields that one of your classes normally cannot equip will take away the abilities and bonuses of that class.

- Skills and abilities are based on the class levels for the classes they came from. If one skill is shared by multiple classes, use the class with the highest level to do that skill.

- Multiply the experience requirements for the next level by two if you have two classes or by three if you have three classes.

You start with 5001 experience points and 5000 gold. At first, you can only buy the standard stuff plus the following:

- +1 Weapon or Armor - 1000 gold extra on top of the basic cost

- Potion of Instant First Aid (stops bleeding) - 100 gold

- Potion of Cure Light Wounds (1d8) - 300 gold

- Potion of Cure Serious Wounds (3d8) - 500 gold

- Potion of Remove Blindness/Deafness - 500 gold

- Potion of Remove Curse - 500 gold

- Potion of Remove Disease - 500 gold

- Potion of Remove Paralysis - 400 gold

- Scroll of 0th-level Spell - 100 gold

- Scroll of 1st-level Spell - 300 gold

- Scroll of 2nd-level Spell - 400 gold (only if you are not multiclassing)

Do buy adventuring equipment and clothes. All that junk might come in handy. Especially rations. You might want some rations.

Due to a lot of technical issues with my real-life friends (who cannot seem to get OpenRPG started) and to draw in more of the existing C&C community (who all swear by Skype and Gametable), I've decided to switch the campaign to Skype text chat with Gametable for the rolls and map.

I am planning the first session to be on Saturday, September 29th. So far I have one confirmed player who will be playing a custom-class Kensai (converted from 1st edition) and two maybes who are planning on heavy melee characters.

Hey ssfsx17,

I would be glad to join your game if you'll have me. I would probably just play a straight cleric.

What Setting are you using? What are some typical deities etc.?

Also should I pm you my character sheet or just post it in this thread?

(Also please note that while I am quite well versed in RPGs in general this will be my third trip into D&D and my first using C&C. I hope this isn't a problem.)

Thanks

Patrick

LOL, you're the third guy named Patrick to join our group. I'm named Patrick and my friend is also named Patrick! Soon, we will unite and take over the world! Mwahahahahahahahahaaha!

*ahem* Anyways,

The setting is not the usual one that The Rising Knight is supposed to be set in. It will probably end up as some home-made thing that somehow manages to fit in the Slavers and my own home-made adventures. I'm not sure if some of my players would even appreciate any kind of setting at all. If it turns out they do know how to enjoy one, then I will flesh out the setting much more.

For now, some typical deities are:

- Holly Kraepp, the goddess of good behavior

- Juste Wright, the god of justice

- Rosalind Wesen, the goddess of natural behavior

- Baleon Nakt, the god of evil behavior who was sealed in a cataclysmic battle long ago

If certain players show that they can appreciate a detailed setting then I will flesh out the deities more and give them less-silly names.

It doesn't matter which way you send me your sheet.

I love the names of your deities, especially the first two. Holy crap and just right.

I've now got plenty of people for this game. With luck, one of the fighters won't show up and then we'll have the perfect number of people.

Only three people showed up for the first session. Fortunately, they were the three experienced people who have been RPing for a while. The other players will be slowly trickling in or getting replaced by people who will come.
