C&C Wild West: Pick Your Character
Posted: Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:08 am
The module is set in 1868 which is early for the true Wild West. It is only 3 years after the civil war. We won't be going for pure historical accuracy by any means
The six premade characters, most of which can be thoroughly changed to suit the players (i.e race, sex, character classes, inventory etc.) are:
(I have put the rough class equivalent in C&C terms in brackets to give an idea as to skillls, and roles and so on. The module itself has city aspects, outdoors aspect, combat aspects, conversation aspects and so on, so all character classes will have chances to shine)
Reeves Hughes Teller - Gunslinger (Fighter) - comes from a wealthy East Coast Brewery family. Dime store novels awakened a love of the adventure of the west, and, to the great shame of his parents, Reeves took his final payment for his fancy finishing school, and bought two pistols and a ticket west. Unfortunately, things went a bit differently than the dime store novels led Reeves to believe. He was recently in a drunken bar fight that led to him shooting a man who was armed only with a broken bottle. While being held in jail, a fortunate jailhouse fire allowed him to escape and he is laying low. There is a bounty of $500 on his head from a shooting in Mississippi .
Tony Martinez -Maverick (Rogue)- is originally from Mexico, but in the wake of Civil War in the States (and certain indiscretions at home) he felt his fortune might better be made up north. Various cons, legal troubles and near death confrontations have proved that a fortune may be harder to make than he thought. He has perfected a preacher disguise which he sometimes uses to keep the heat off of himself. Recently incarcerated for a "Card Sharping" charge in Mississippi, a fortunate jailhouse fire enabled him to escape, and he has decided to lay low for awhile. Note- his morality is more Han Solo than Darth Vader
Dan "Buffalo" Johnson - Mountain Man (Barbarian)- . Raised in a settler family wiped out by hostile indians when he was 14. Rather than going to an orphanage in the city, he just got on with a simple and solitary life in the woods as an adolescent. Wary of strangers and cvilisation in general. (Although he has subsequently interacted with friendly indian tribes, so is on agreeable terms with them). He had spent some time as a buffalo hunter for the railroad but that has dried up. Life has gotten harder, the winters colder, and he has drifted south on rumours of warm weather and the prospect of "gold nuggets the size of your fist".
Gabriel Jackson.- Drifter (Jack of all trades Fighter). Fought with the US Colored Regiment during the Civil War, and joined up with the famous "Buffalo Soldiers" to fight Indians after the war. However, he was involved in the Copper Snake Valley Massacre, where many innocent Indians were killed. Disillusioned with killing, he has drifted from odd jobs in ranching and the like, but has now gotten a touch of gold fever and has decided to prospect for gold with Buffalo Johnson.
Sadie McCoy - Gunslinger (Fighter)- Sadie is a small but strongly built woman from Sctoland. While still a teenager, she married the owner of a Wild West show that toured in the East, Canada, and even England. She is a trick shot artist and is especially known for her lasso tricks. After the death of her husband, she was forced to sell the show, and has been looking to find another business ever since.
Annie YellowHawk - Scout (Ranger/Rogue)- is a half indian/half Irish firebrand. Raised by her Indian mother, she found work as a Union scout during the Civil War, where she was noted for her excellent sniping. She also spent some time in the McCoy Wild West Show where her accurate trick shooting was widely noted. She presently acts as a freelance guide, and has re-united with her friend Sadie McCoy in the search for Annie's dead brother
Connections
Gabriel Jackson (drifter) and Buffalo Johnson (mountain man) have come down together after hearing of gold to be found, intent on prospecting their way to a fortune
Annie Yellowhawk (Scout) and Sadie McCoy (Gunslinger) both worked for the Wild West Show. They have come on rumours that Annie's brother was killed in a gunfight in town
Reeves Hughes-Teller (Gunslinger) met Tony Martinez (Maverick) in jail, awaiting trial. A mysterious fire led to their fortunate escape, and they decided Dead Mule may be the place to lay low for a year or so, and practice their particular talents
All six travellers meet and bond over the many days it takes for their stage coach to reach the town of Dead Mule
Choose well!
