Looking for an online game.

Post by Kos »

Can anybody hook me up with an online game? Play by post would probably be easiest. I'm fairly new to this so what is the most common method?

Hey Kos:

I have an opening in my Wednesday night game:
http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... llordgames

You'll need SKYPE and a mike: (takes 2 mins tops to download and set up...and it's completely free when used comp to comp)
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/

TRUST ME, once you go online voice chat, you'll ne'er go back.

Then add my name:

kuotoan

to your contacts list.

4th lvl to start

I've been a DM for 20 odd yrs. or so, and many really like my DMing style.
For crying out loud, do what you can with the attributes the dice have given you. This is what separates the men from the boys... -Kayolan

Dont do it Kos, he is the worse DM out there. If you do one thing, stay clear of Slimy!!!!

Nah, just kidding, I have gamed with Slimy in person, and have to say, he is probably the most descriptive, 'alive' DM I have had. Do come and join with Navarra Morak, the brave young lass who is all alone.....

And Donny, dont let the compliment go to your head eh, probably has years ago LOL

I don't have a microphone. How big (MBs) is SKYPE? I don't always use the same computer. This is why I was asking about play by post.

I would very much like to game with some of the people on these boards though, so I'll look into these things. Skype does sound cool.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Do you use a virtual tabletop software (MapTools, ScreenMonkey, Fantasy Grounds, etc) or just Skype?

We use both Skype and OpenRPG. Usually they work fine togehter. However, we have had times when it was a pain in the ace.

I've hooked up with a play by post. I will get back in touch once I get all the SKYPE stuff together. Thanks for all the help.

For VOIP, Skype isn't bad, but I recommend Ventrilo. Its "push-to-talk" feature really helps cut down on background noise, particularly for people who don't use headset mics.

lol

In the last few weeks all the online groups have been switching to Ventrilo and Maptools, with SKYPE and OpenRPG as back up if we can't get the ports set up, or have other problems.
