Thursday Night Irregulars: Dragon Age

Post by ssfsx17 »

Thursday Night Irregulars: Dragon Age: Origins: The Role-Playing Game: Powered by the AGE System: by Green Ronin: A Bann Too Many

Characters are created by-the-book. If you don't have the box set, or the PDF of the player's handbook, then there are some pre-generated characters at the top of this page: http://sites.google.com/site/ssfsx17srp ... on-age-rpg

The party will want at least one mage who can cast Heal.

I will run one module, then depending on how fast or slow that goes, I might run a second module. Since Green Ronin is taking its sweet time with things, you can probably figure out which two modules these are, so if you read ahead, then some of the NPCs and enemies might suddenly mutate and sprout tentacles that shoot lightning. Or, even worse for the party's health, I might just do things my own way, in my more usual style.

This game will start when Victorious and Jovian Chronicles are completed, which is very soon.
---EDIT---

Setting brief: http://drop.io/DragonAgeResources/asset ... -brief-pdf

Codex collection (of notes that you can find in the computer game): http://drop.io/dragonagecodexentries/media/other

Introduction to Ferelden, the main continent that both the computer game and this mini-campaign will center around: http://www.mediafire.com/?nytojdmdzdf

My own setting summary:

The setting of Dragon Age is a lot like Warhammer Fantasy, except:

- The map of the world is not like our own.

- The germanic kingdom is not the center of the human world. Instead, that honor goes to Tevinter, which is most analagous to the Byzantine Empire after the fall of Rome.

- Magic users are a lot less likely to be corrupted by chaos (or in this setting, "The Fade") from spellcasting. In fact, by default, corruption/abomination never happens in normal gameplay.

- Magic users are a lot less likely to be instantly burned at the stake, as long as they're sanctioned, depending on the kingdom. In some places, magic users don't need to be sanctioned at all.

- There is no divine magic.

- There exist elves who live in human cities, enslaved by humans.

- Wild elves are a lot less likely to be instantly burned at the stake.

- There is only one current stronghold of dwarven civilization, Orszammar. The other dwarven strongholds are not doing so great.

Well, as I told you earlier, I am going for a Paladin type of feel. So I can use this character as a framework:

Adelheid Argrave

But I am all man, baby! Also, having a 2 handed sword and wearing only leather armour strikes me as ... unwise so we may have to tweak that
The key thing is: will he be able to do loop de loops? I mean, by the bushel full?

If current trends of people playing in TNI are anything to go by, then it's highly likely there will be room.

New warriors get heavy leather armor for free. Any type of mail armor is not-so-free.

Notice how this character, who does have metal armor: http://sites.google.com/site/ssfsx17srp ... y-the-book

is a little bit low on luxury goods.

I'll play this guy, the mage:

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Depending on how next week goes (scanning a pirate asteroid base), we will do chargen / character selection for those who haven't picked yet, and assigning some of the characters to be Templars to guard the mages.

You should give him the powered battle armor instead of leather. It won't be your fault he cannot figure out how to actually put it on. Or the fact that the parties response would be "IT"S A GOLEM DESTROY IT".

I'm trying to stick to what's already been shown in the setting

No Dragon Age next week, due to RandomCon. However, I am totally up for playing Doom: The Board Game, or I can set up Settlers of Catan through maptool, or whatever.

The next session of Dragon Age will probably be the last one of this module - either the party dies, or someone else does, and then I will bring out the module that's actually in print (The Dalish Curse).

sorry i missed the game we had a miscommunication with the neighbours.

apparently they came by for our share of the bill and spoke with victor. victor was in the process of moving out and told them to go stuff themselves. If he had mentioned to anyone else that the Internet bill was up for payment it would have been fine, but he didn't. it has been cleared up.

Also, I think Treebore is absent for more than just tonight (not sure about that, but he is missing some sessions of his Tuesday game as well) so we should probably have some other game on tap for the next few weeks, or just continue on with Dragon Age.

Maybe he is just missing the Tuesday games though. I am not sure

Unfortunately, I don't have anything ready that would take exactly 1 - 2 sessions to complete.

Don't be so sure.

I can end any module in under one session

10 x Healer's Kit

2 x Lyrium Potion

1 x Swift Missile

Enchanted Poem

1 x gold coin

400 x silver coins

1 x estate that used to belong to Bann Trumhall

1 x bann in the party's pocket
