Just quickly, James:

1) Do I need the 3.5 boxed set to get the most out of your magazine? Will there be JG hex references in the magazine or other such content?

2) Just to clarify, As I understand it, the GM guides in the 'off month' aren't covered by the subscription. Will this product be released into distribution or will it have to be ordered in separately?

The material in the magazine and the campaign installments will be able to be used on its own, but it will expand the campaign extensively if you have the boxed set. That said, for example, when you get the Player's Guide and the Judge's Gazetteer of the Southern Reaches together, you do not need the boxed set to use them.

The same goes with the Guide and Gaz for any of the 18 regions of the Wilderlands (or other sections of the world). Those two books alone will give you everything you need to run a campaign in that region.

If the campaign installment is about a city or village, depending on the level of detail included on the settlement itself there may or may not be more information about the surrounding hex, or nearby hexes.

It would be best compared to the original Forgotten Realms boxed set and region booklets; you did not have to have the boxed set to use the region books, but the boxed set enhanced the use of the region books.

Oh, one other proviso... various Wilderlands-based classes that are relatively widespread (think alchemist, amazon, psychic, sage, witch, etc.), will eventually be found in the magazine itself rather than one of the campaign installments or gazetteers.

Indeed, the Judge's Gazetteers are not included in the subscription; this is to keep the sub at a relatively reasonable price, as well as because the ratio of players to judges is 4 to 1 or more. Pretty much anyone that plays will be able to use the Player's Guides; only a Judge needs a Gazetteer.

Discounts on direct sales of the Gazetteers (as well as certain other AGP products) are one of the perks subscribers get; plus, if a subscriber wants, we can wait to ship the Gaz with the next issue to save on shipping and handling.

I might offer a second subscription for the gazetteers alone; still pondering that one.

Yes. The rates for Argentina are the same as for the UK/Australia.

Right now my e-mail is #$^%#$%^$#@ down anyway, so it doesn't really matter. My provider apparently was trying to upgrade something in their e-mail system this last weekend, so it's been on and off for days... and now off all day so far, dammit.

Actually, I prefer if folks e-mail me first whether using Paypal or sending a check or money order. That way we're both clear on costs, and I know to look for the payments.

James, how soon do we need to send you payment in order to be sure that we get the first issue?

If you want to get in on the subscription (regular sub, "Try Me!" 1-shot, or "Serleran Special"), I'll need sub payments in by the 7th of October. If you want to do the First Year Special Sub, you must pay for the first issue in full by that date ($30). I need to know the number of subs by that date to accurately gauge how many extra bits I'll need for the goodies envelope.

If you just want the magazine and campaign installment, though, I should have plenty left for a couple months. I'm going to be printing 300 copies of each to make sure I have enough for the folks who want to jump on board after the word starts spreading...

I've know someone who also might be interested in this, but would probably prefer to see a website rather a forum post; Let me know when you get the nuts-and-bolts details all sorted out and update the AGP website. (Will there be sample pages of layout?)

I don't get around the internet that often, but how else is the AGJ being promoted? I've seen a blurb or two on various websites like Gamingreport.com and on TLG and some posts at Necromancer, but nowhere else to my knowledge. Is AGJ going to be pretty much a word-of-mouth / fan internet deal?

Just wondering.

Once I have the first issue done and am able to put together a preview PDF (not the whole thing, just some teaser stuff, but enough to give folks and idea of what to expect) I'll be making the big push.

The problem is that until then, it is a virtual unknown, and all I have to show non-fans is a preview of a related product (XXXI).

I plan to make the big marketing push around the end of October, once the first issue is ready to go out. I'll be advertising and sending out PR and so forth.

If there are any websites out there that you feel would be good for me to hit, let me know. The major RPG consumer-oriented sites of which I am aware are: ENWorld, GamingReport, RPG.net, Necromancer Games, Troll Lord Games (here), Acaeum, and Dragonsfoot.

Of those only ENWorld and Gaming Report take advertising. I'm also considering advertising on a few gamer-oriented webcomics like SomethingPositive.net. We'll see where that goes...

Essentially, the reason I've not been pushing it big is I've got nothing to show... once I do, the big push will be on!

When it's ready, you could try sending review copies out to EnWorld and rpg.net reviewers.

Oh, and rpg.net also takes advertising: http://www.rpg.net/ads/info.phtml (All of those banner ads at the top...)

James, since it was close to the 7th I just sent off a payment for the bi-monthly option to your Paypal account. Would you prefer a check next time?

Check, money order, or Paypal will be fine, thanks! I live right next door to my bank, so checks and money orders aren't as big a deal as they might be...

TheRPGSite has a good number of JG fans, but site policy and opinion is against advertising, unless it is established, participating posters doing it. Being one, I'll see what I can do. Also intend to post a review of XXXI, work has to come first.

I received a subscription confirmation email from James last week. I'm really looking forward to the Journal and the Campaign Installment. Also looking forward to the Judge's Campaign Installment that will follow.

Best of luck, James, on this endevour.
