Davis Chenault & Mac Golden

TLG 80103, ISBN 978-1-929474-94-3
http://www.trolllord.com/newsite/cnc/80102.html

Special Note: Noticeable differences: As with the 1st and 2nd printing a few typos and inconsistencies were addressed, but the only rules addition or change appearing in the 3rd printing are the new poison charts for the assassin.

Are you ready to enter a world of daring adventures battling ancient dragons, descending into dungeons in search of treasure and glory or rescuing mystic artifacts from the clutches of evil wizards? If so, the Castles & Crusades Players Handbook is the place to begin with its easy to learn, fast and fun play, it is the game for those who enjoy tales of high adventure and epic fantasy. So gather some friends, grab some dice, unleash your imagination and be ready to enter the grand adventure that is Castles & Crusades!

The Castles & Crusades Players Handbook contains everything needed to play a character in a game of Castles & Crusades and with the addition of the Castles & Crusades Monsters and Treasure guide, everything necessary for a Castle Keeper to run a game of Castles & Crusades.

The Castles & Crusades Players Handbook allows players to choose amongst 13 archtypical character classes to play: Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Assassin, Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Illusionist, Druid, Cleric, Knight, Paladin and Bard.

There are also seven races from which to choose for your character: human, dwarf, elf, gnome, half-orc, halfling and half-elf.

Hundreds of items of equipment are included with which to outfit your character.

Dozens of spells are available for the many spell casting classes.

With Castles & Crusades' easy to learn attribute based game mechanic, quick character creation, fast paced combat rules and simplified spell effect application, running a game of Castles & Crusades becomes nearly effortless for player and Castle Keeper alike.

I hope you finally moved the races before the classes... that would be sooooo much easier.

Any chance of the new poison chart being made available as a PDF?

Hopefully my errata monkey job will be rendered moot with this printing.

You're assuming the CKG makes it out before the 10th print of the PHB... ;)

You know what they say about the 3rd time, and all that.
The 3rd printing will be the goods.

I'm thinking that the CKG might/will be a massive undertaking. Praps tougher than the PH. But for mebbe different reasons. However, the PH is becoming a masterpiece in so far as, a great/classic D&D RPG can be!!

Well, you can always hope that new errors are introduced in the 3rd printing.

I just got my second printing last night! But I'm excited about the new printing. It means that several years down the road, I can talk about "starting with the second printing" and proudly pointing to the 2006 on the title page, beaming with pride and self-satisfaction in the face of my later-printing friends.

...referring to old days, with the blue box this and red box that...

Ah...

if only they'd give some clue as to how many books were in each of the previous printing - it might increase our awe and congratulations of TLG.

I continue to not see why that information is proprietary... knowing how many books were sold to fans, may even prompt other gaming companies to support (or increase support) of C&C...

Cheers,

J.

I wouldn't count on that happening. Companies don't tend to do that.

yes, but never with a rational reason why. this is an anachronistic holdover from a long ago dark age in role playing.

you (meaning the industry) can create something like an OGL, and model yourself off of the software open source movement, yet still feel that the number of books sold is somehow proprietary? Were I a small game developer, and had the next million dollar idea, who do I design my idea for? how do I base that decision? the way things currently sit, I default to WotC because at least I know they are the market leaders. for me, the 3rd party, C&C is just a niche of a niche derivative and I have no way to know if I design a product for them, my potential market is 100, 1000, 10,000 or a million. it's a big decision.

Not everyone is James Misheler (sp? sorry) who has both inside knowledge, a background in the industry and a friendly, personal relationship (inferring the last part) with TLG (same with Goodman games)...

I know it wont happen, but the excuse of "we don't do it because we haven't done it before" is out dated. times have changed and open information is much more powerful than keeping things like this proprietary. Be bold, proclaim to all, "Join the Crusade, 3,000 others already have!!!"

Cheers,

J.

Humor aside.

This book is now at the Printer. They'll give me a release date in the next few days, but probably late May/early June.

thanks Steve, and a hearty congratulations to the success of C&C. To have been a fly on your wall, the night TLG decided to take the great leap of faith and print this new game.... wonder if C&C has met or exceeded your expectations?

And, if we're ever going to get that "the story of C&C" series of Crusader articles.

I'm told that all my stories begin with "well I was at the bar . . . . " and end with "we left the strip club . . . ." and have two common factors: We lost alot of money and Davis got hurt on something or someone.

Steve!

Is there going to be a multiple book deal offer-type thing like there was with the second printing?

I like to read with one book in each hand and one under my pillow.

Cheers...
