In all seriousness, Morty and Seskis have explained all the goodness of the Chap 1 preview. And yes, Mac Golden is real; I shook hands with him.

R-

I'm one upping you buddy- actual doctored footage of Mac Golden- You know it's fake 'cause there's a yeti in the vidoe with him (Davis)

The Troll Lords discuss and answer questions about the upcomming Castle Keeper's Guide. The panel includes the elusive Mac Golden, Casey Cristofferson, Davis Chenault, and Steven Chenault. The full session ran just over 1 hour and answered the questions of 1) what's the purpose of the CKG 2) Whether or not the CKG is neccessary for Castle and Crusdes, 3) What can you expect from the CKG, and What's the progress on the CKG (otherwise known as "I pre-ordered the CKG from Amazon in 2006- why don't I have it?"

Thanks for posting the video of the panel. I didn't get to stay long enough to attend this. It's good to be able to hear what was said!

Thanks again!

From the twitter updates, it looks like the CKG may be just around the corner folks. That glorious day will come soon...and then the world can pee its collective pants.

LOL! That's sort of square 1 for me.

I was looking for more like "clip 4 at the 2:30 mark to hear the proposed date" as an answer.

Sorry, I've been trying to go back to school and have the "guv'erment" pay for it. And it's been sort like that.

If by "soon" you mean "likely this year" then I'd agree. Having sat in most of the session at Troll Con, though, it's clear that there's still a fair bit of writing to be done, along with all the editing and layout which will follow. So I'd be hesitant to say things like "just around the corner" or "imminent" and give people the false impression that they're going to see the product any day now.

But Steve is slamming away at it. It is coming. They want the monkey off their back. In Steve's own words, "This year looks likely."

And if the 1st chapter that was available at Troll Con is any indication, then the world will definitely pee its collective pants. Or perhaps squee like a schoolgirl. Or something.

Pre-orders? I can't believe my eyes folks. It really is right around the corner. A new store system.....the Castle Keeper up for pre-order....things are beginning to pick up steam. Very promising indeed.

I've updated the ad copy on the first page of this thread for the CKG and linked to the pre-order/cart system page.

Progess has been going very well, and very fast. I'm editing and writing about 10 pages a day at this point. Really without Troll Con and Gencon looming in the way and now with the cart system live and Neal and Peter working on the Kindle version of the PH, my time is freed quite a bit so finish this book.

Trollzah!

Is there still going to be information on using/creating/variant races in the CKG? I'm curious about this because something I'd really like to do with C&C is some world building with some friends of mine. We have some races that have already been "written in" to the setting. I'd love to have some guidelines for this within the framework of C&C.

I'm getting through the YouTube videos right now, and I'll delete the post if i find my answer.

I debated whether or not I should just wait for the slip-case with all the core books or just pre-order it. I had to pull the trigger and order it. I've waited long enough.

The CKG preview (essentially Chap. 1) I got at Troll Con does indeed cover that, including three examples (a Deep Dwarf variant, a Longleaf Halfling varient, and an Orc race PC)

Hope that helps

Ordered it today...though I was hoping to get FoB with that....just the shipping rates killed me. I know that's not the Troll's issue...but when 33% of my order cost is in the postal rate....ouch.

Those post office folks are wondering why they get less and less business...they only need to look at their pricing. Must be nice having a near monopoly. (and yes, I know the electronic communications like email and such have been putting the squeeze to them as well)

8 weeks puts this well past my birthday. Sorry, I can no longer support this product.
Had you all going for a minute, didn't I. I'll place my order soon.

Dude, I feel your pain. As a collector, I can't wait for the leatherette, gold foil edition (or whatever incarnation the collectors version comes in...though I am partial to the leatherette!) The easy answer is buy one now for immediate use and abuse, and get the collectors version later on just for the coolness factor.
