She's so lovely we run away in FEAR!!!!

Yes, I got the CKG, and I love what I see, but there are some things that I probably will already not include in my houserules (as the CKG is a bunch of houserules...right).

I find it interesting that with higher Charisma I can charm, fascinate and inspire people...but at 29 Charisma I cause FEAR as a 10th level Wizard!!! (Hey, I know, it's probably only if you choose to do so...but funny in some contexts).

Thought I'd pop in to comment on some editorial stuff, or at least one item I've read already on page 18. 5th paragraph down, line 3, it says "normal sped at no penalty"...I think it's supposed to be "normal speed at no penalty"

Some quirky items on page 34 with the Longleaf Halfling Attribute Modifiers. They have a +1 Dexterity +1, and nothing after that. I'm under the idea that they only get a +1 Dex?

Similar thing occurs under the Orc's readout with their Attribute modifiers except this time it's a -1 Dexterity -1.

I'm absolutely thrilled to have the CKG in my hands and I wouldn't hold it up for any of these quirks period...but just thought you might want to see if you can get this changed up in the print prior to the larger prints?

Some personal commentary, I typically take the character advancements as they have been previously and continue likewise on upwards. Makes it easy to level up to whatever level you want (level 2000 Billion even, if you ever really have someone go up that high, personally haven't gotten over 6th level in a C&C game yet...BUT if I ever do).

On that note, ON that note I don't really care for the Ranger's, Knight's, Paladin's, or Bard's combat progression for BtH. I'll use my own houserules that say they continue to progress at +1 per level. What's up with Level 20? Everyone seems to suddenly have their progressions change? It's not the continuous way...but a drastic reduction of power advancement per level overall? I'll probably houserule that more in line with AD&D or D&D (and not the type that set a maximum on THAC0...but the houserules that state there is no limit) instead as well. I like the other powers and such however...nice and interesting.

Interesting new methods for Character generation. I like the Modern and Future ideas for C&C...once the CKG has been out for a while I might even utilize it to create a houserule made C&C version of modern or Future on these forums.

This book seems to cover a LOT of stuff, more than I thought would be possible. Everything from City's and dungeons to Water and Air adventures.

I'm still at the beginning but browsed ahead. Neat stuff with NPC's...and I like how they have the Secondary Skills options. The Advantages that are listed seem simply another name for Feats (as they are known in another RPG many are familiar with)...wondering why they went with the term Advantages instead.

Overall, I like it.

I got the digest versions of the books, I absolutely LOVE these books. These are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for travel, and I tend to travel a LOT. I mean, these are superb, I can't say enough good words about them or the CKG.

The CKG is everything anyone should have expected and more...and the digest sized books are absolutely great for anyone who has to travel or wants portability with their C&C (and have decent vision...I suppose if you have bad vision these books could be a little hard to read).

Awesome job...I just had to create the topic with the line above though since the extended CHA table struck me as funny.

If I shouldn't have brought up any of the stuff above...feel free to modify my post...I think I was sufficiently obtuse in it to really not give too much out other than what I found funny...and some editorial stuff.

I can't express just how great the CKG is...and how delighted I am with the Digest versions of the books!

Seriously, even when the prices are at their normal price...not only are these great with portability...but there is point blank NO BETTER DEAL for an RPG than the digest versions. In my opinion...of course.

Hoping to tear through a CKG soon as well. Some of the stuff sounds great, some sounds ripe for ruling around, and some just seems like it needs to get added immediately.

Some more notes, these on the illustrations. Some remind me of other books.

The picture on page 212 and 275 are VERY Conan 'esque' in many ways. Completely remind me of a Conan type picture (The Robert Howard type Conan).

Does the Troll/Goblin/Orc on pg 260 realize it's cutting into it's own face...heck of a way to try to swing at your opponent...

263 one of the Elmore pieces. Reminds me of a Clerical Drizzt...double handed healing? (In reality probably supposed to be an old woman probably...but the first thought I had that came to mind was Drizzt).

Page 8 brings thoughts similar to the 1e picture (page 23 in the Blue cover with Wizard that I have handy right now) of the Paladin in Hell.

Page 23 on the otherhand seems to have a similar idea of the tree surrounded by heroes hanging the baby wyvern/dragon in the 2e PHB.

Hey, keep the errata coming. This stuff will get fixed if it's out there and seen.

The shield is bashing the blade into the goblins face. :)

Ha GreyLord, great threat title. Everything that I hear about the CKG makes it seem even more awesome, but I have a quick question:
I like the Modern and Future ideas for C&C
Does this section just cover modern/future or other post medieval settings (e.g 17th Century fantasy pirates and musketeers; 19th century Steampunk fantasy etc)?
Thanks :D

A lot of stuff, but not completely in depth so you'll have to be the one to flesh it out. They mention...

Late Middle Ages/Renaissance
Pre Industrial Age
Industrial Age
Post Apocalyptic
Science Fiction: The Age of Lasers
Space Age
Pulp Noir
Horror Fiction

Inclusive of Weapons (meaning I'm not listing all of them, that's what the CKG is for)

are

Primitive Firearms (black Powder)
Modern Firearms
Age of Lasers
Grenades
Rockets
High Explosives

They also have rules for Body Armor.

Yah. If I were to use the future rules I would very likely shift to the optional wounds system and utilize the damage reduction rules. This stuff would really work when you mash it together to suit your own game.

With the technology outlined in the CKG, there's no reason why you couldn't do Steampunk.

EVERYBODY WHO HAS RECEIVED A DIGEST-CKG, POST ANY ERRATA YOU FIND HERE!

Or you can post it in the other HUGE CKG thread where Breakdaddy is posting all of the tidbits. It'll be seen and it might make it into the hardback printing!

I'll see if we can get the obvious fixes in before the hardback goes to print!

Just an fyi. The character (with the axe) in question is one of mine from back in the day. He's a fighter name of Mourne. :)

I seem to recall at least one other picture with him, but not in the CKG (aka, not the one on page 195, at least I think that's the same guy)...but can't recall where I saw it. Or maybe it was one of the same ones in a Crusader, I might have to go fishing through the issues to find it.

He's also used in cover art for that C&C reprint of the Malady of Kings module. :)
