SRD Spells

Post by Mark Hall »

Has anyone gone through and converted the spells of the SRD to C&C format, including levels and the like? I'm looking at the spell lists and feeling a bit trapped on behalf of my players.

I like that. Not going to use it because I like mine better, but I do like that idea. -Treebore, summing up most home designers' philosophy

I haven't seen every SRD spell done, but over the years they have graced these message board. Unfortunately, never in one place. Perhaps this should be that place.

would they need much converting? In fact I think the ones in C&C are more deadly.

I actually did do this from level 1-5 spells but a subsequent HDD crash killed my document before a good backup was performed. :(

The good news is it's terribly easy to do if you use the base C&C spells as a template and the guidelines on how SIEGE handles saving throws:

SAVE TYPE Categories
STRENGTH Paralysis, Constriction
INTELLIGENCE Arcane Magic, Illusion
WISDOM Divine Magic, Confusion, Gaze AttackPolymorph, Petrification
DEXTERITY Breath Weapon, Traps
CONSTITUTION Disease, Energy Drain, Poison
CHARISMA Death Attack, Charm, Fear
VARIABLE: Spells

Honestly, I would not bother. The spells can be used pretty much as written with some minor changes like cutting bonuses in half (or more) and possibly altering some "flavor text." I say the same about the spells in the Spell Compendiums from 2nd edition AD&D, though with that there is sometimes more to do such as adjusting for 10 spell levels rather than 9 or 7 (for clerics and druids.) I would rather see a slew of new spells.

I think the biggest change is the ranges and the heading info, like serl said, not a big deal.
The few I've done are simple, I think using a guideline Serl made.
