I will, as soon as I have the Castle Keeper's Guide. I want to see the skill options first.

As a quick side-jaunt here, there's at least some speculation that Pathfinder is outpeforming or at the least rivaling D&D in terms of print sales. Certainly it's the case on Amazon (an imperfect gauge, to be sure), and there are other links citing the same:

Here's the most recent one, that says D&D had a narrow lead in Q1, but things are swinging Pathfinder's way:

Personally? I love C&C, but I don't mind converting material from PF. PF is too heavy for me to run, but I'll play it with friends and happily crib what I can for use with C&C.

Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.

I notice that they cited the fact that D&D has a foothold in more "one-product" stores which is why they are holding their own, barely. Wonder how well they would be doing if they had to compete in all the stores carrying their product.

My guess: Not so well.

BnN carries D&D and Pathfinder products, among others. At my local store, they often seem to be out of the Pathfinder stuff, but the D&D stuff is overflowing the shelves.

I doubt this is an indicator of anything, but still. I also noticed that D&D hogs all of the limelight (eye-level) locations while Pathfinder is relegated to the bottom shelves next to "Gamma World" and Warhammer. Yet, the PF stuff is still moving...

PFRPG is, indeed, #1 in Books > SF&F > Gaming. The first DnD offering (PHB) clocks in at #4. Even the Ultimate Magic expansion is outselling it.

You can't really use Amazon numbers as a measuring stick for more than "most recent sales". Another site was mentioning this very thing and that the ranking was skewed because of this.

I've quite a few contacts in the local bookseling community and they say that Pathfinder and D&D were more or less neck and neck. The Essentials set seems to have backfired. It confused people so now they aren't buying the new books because they think they're for Essentials and they're frustrated because the books they bought are usuable. Most want to know why WotC simply didn't reprint the core books with the errata installed. Pathfinder on the other hand is gorgeous and already has a built in fanbase.
I say good luck to both. For my personal taste, I'll stick with C&C and if I ever get a decent job, I'll probably recollect AD&D 1st and Earthdawn 1st. D&D 4th and Pathfinder are too big, too expensive, and too rules intense for my tastes.

I've been fortunate to somehow keep all of my AD&D stuff (1st and 2nd Ed) around, and in decent shape, all of these many years. I have the 1st printing DMG and 4th printing PHB, 1st printing MM, and most of the supplemental books. My 2nd Edition books are actually in near mint condition (all 1st printing), with the PHB the only exception, showing a significant amount of wear. Sadly, my original Basic and Expert boxed D&D sets vanished many years ago, and have been replaced with LL.

Yeah, I'm like Redwulf mostly -- have all my 1st Ed. books (never saw the need to even go to 2nd Ed.) as well as a load of 1st Ed. modules both from TSR and Judges Guild.

I so love it that, with C&C, I'm set!!

Though I have gotten "Towers of Adventure" and the whole of the "A" series modules -- all are great IMHO.

So, can anyone pass me that potion of longevity or throw a reverse-aging spell on me so I'll actually have enough time to CK/play all these?
