Hi!

Because of a discussion about the Mana Point system in the CKG I decided to give it a try and formulate another magic system.

- please let me know if something like this approach already exists
- please let me know what you think about it, be it good or bad (constructive criticism is prefered :lol: )

You can download the rules as PDF in letter or DIN A4 format:

Is there a formula you used to determine the "recovery rate" per level, or did you wing it? I'm curious what your analysis was based on to determine the recovery times on the tables.

It's an interesting take on a mana point system, but because of the increase in power level, which you acknowledge, I won't use it. As the CK, will you be making the adventures more difficult to compensate for the increased power level?

@redwullf:
My intention was to enable a spellcaster to recover all his spell slots in a 24h period. So I divided 24h by the number of slot point necessary to open all spell slots and rounded that to a convenient number. For the divine spellcasters I increased the recovery time a bit after that for the first ten levels to balance for the unlimited spell pool.

@Traveller:
Difficult to answer your question as I have not yet play-tested these rules. I will implement them in my game, first without increasing the difficulty level, observing the consequences and reacting accordingly.

Interesting...could a character with a high caster class attribute (Int for MUs, Wis for clerics, etc) factor those bonus spell slots in and reduce their overall recovery time, or would you consider the time fixed regardless as the best option?

To keep things simple I consider the recovery time fixed. The bonus slots are not too shabby by themselves.
