Maybe a "monster" forum?

Post by finarvyn »

I think it might be neat to have a new forum where all of the monster threads could be grouped together so that folks don't have to hunt through pages and pages in order to find them.

I've noticed several monster threads recently, and sometimes they pop up in groups. Might be nice for organization.

Or maybe a higher level category like, "Fan created/submitted material" or somesuch!

Good idea.

Good point

I think for example Dragonsfoot has a forum called "the Workshop" which groups together new monsters, items, classes, spells, and dungeon ideas.

If we could convince the submitters to put a tag in the subject line ( like [spells] or [monster]) it might make it easier to search as well

Just post one with the C&C OGL attached so all content is covered. Might be a good idea to do that anyway, somewhere on these boards... of course, who really (or very few people do) ever put in Section 15?

Yes we can do this! I'll try to tackle this tomorrow. I've been sucked into the vortex that is the print shop lo these many months, but was just told by Davis that I have to stay out for the rest of the week!

Awesome! Now, if we only could find someone to move the monster threads into the new forum. I'd volunteer, but I'm not a moderator. :P

I started several recently (which I think prompted this thread), so if you could move them, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Thanks for gettting the board up

I will reiterate the suggestion that it be a more general board, and include fan created classes, spells, magic items, and even adventure seeds. Thus perhaps necessitating a more general name

Um ... this is one of those cases where if you speak up you get picked, eh?

I'll look around and see what mod powers I have and try to start moving threads ASAP! 8-)

I'm NOT volunteering (LOL), but maybe all this fan-created goodness can get organized under the banner of the C&C society and its webpage? Isn't that part of its mission?

(ok, I'll help, Eric, if you need). :D

Okay, so I spent an hour or so moving some monster threads. I made it back 30 pages (to December 2009) and decided to take a break for a while. I'll get back to my mission ASAP.

By the way, sometimes it was hard to determine which threads should be moved there and which should not. Sometimes I had to make a wild guess, and I apologize in advance if I picked wrong. For example, Demons/Devils seemed like they were "monsters" as were Angelic folk. In general I left Gods and/or Pantheons alone and didn't move them, however.

I noticed another common topic is race/class stuff. That might make for another nice forum somewhere along the line.... 8-)

might save some time if you just go through certain posters posts that you know have put up more than a couple critters...such as me and Serl as an offhand example, rather than wade through each page. :)

Thanks for the work, Marv. I recently got a new job and it's been very challenging finding time to do just about anything outside of that lately. Things will settle eventually, but in the meantime, I have been forced to be scarce around here.

I appreciate the "Trollzah" from you. My pleasure, and thanks for trusting me with secret ninja powers here on the boards!

I love C&C and like to support it where I can. I'm not big into writing articles or anything like that, but I'm decent at organizing stuff and I have a lot of patience to look through threads.
