Khopesh Stats

In my face to face game one of the players is playing a cleric of Toth. Now, one of Toth's favored weapons is the khopesh, so the player asked what the damage was for a khopesh. Unless, I'm overlooking it, there are no stats for the khopesh in either the Player's Guide nor Castle Keeper's Guide. But, you know what? It's basically a sword, so...same damage.
Anyone got a different opinion on that, or can point me toward the proper stats?

It's not in Castellan's Arms Guide either...
Personally, I have always thought of the khopesh as an Egyptian scimitar, so I'd use the scimitar stats from the PHB (1d6 damage). Some khopesh where never even sharpened and were thus used as a disarming weapon or used to encumber or unhorse opponents.

When all else fails, I refer to the 2nd Edition AD&D Player's Handbook
Khopesh, 2d4 damage, 7 lbs, and I'd give it an EV of 4.

Thanks. I like the 2d4 answer best, I think. Matches it up with the falchion, and sort of represents that chopping aspect of it.

Agree with Kim.
The khopesh is much shorter weapon and giving it 2d4 like a falchion which is 3.5 feet long seems excessive.

You were always one of my favorite people, Ross.
2d4 for a khopesh, like Ross says, is a bit excessive. That means it does the same damage as many pole arms and the broadsword. But the beauty of C&C is, if its not in the rules, make it.

So have fun.

Eh, perhaps the gents are right. 2d4 might be a little much, but I think 1d6 is a little low. But since there's no middle ground (unless you got a couple d3's lying about, then I might go 2d3

) it's probably best to err on the low side.

I was going to suggest the 2nd ed stats too, but if you think 2d4 is too high, how about 1d6+1 if you think 1d8 it too high?

Hmmm. Wikipedia tells me the sword was more like a saber, so the 1d6 may actually be more appropriate. Also might have been used for disarming, so maybe give it the 1d6 and also the disarm ability of the hook sword.

If I wanted simplicity, I'd say it was similar enough to fall under "scimitar, 1d6".
If I could tell the player was really enthusiastic about it & really into this crazy new sword I'd do with "Sword, Khopesh 1d6+1"- he get's to have his cool new toy & a bit of flavour, a happy player & I hardly see it causing even the tiniest ripple in game balance or discontent.

Damage = 1d6.
A khopesh receives a +2 bonus on the attack roll when attempting a disarm maneuver.
