The Codex of Erde

I see in the TL store that The Codex of Erde was added August 2010, but it showed up as a new product list for me too along with the screen, which was added at the same time, and I know that was really a new product, which has me asking,

Is The Codex of Erde just released as a reprint, revised for C&C (it was d20 originally, no?), or just an oddity that it showed up as a new product along with the new C&C screen?

...and how does The Codex of Erde relate to The Erde Expanded Codex (which was a download at one point)?

I get the idea I should read one of them which might help my GMing the Umbrage Saga

The Erde Expanded Codex was just an index for the book.
The Codex of Erde is old product. The C&C version so far is the After Winter's Dark Folio, until the Codex of Aihrde comes out, and will best inform your Umbrage Saga play.

I doubt Codex of Erde is getting a reprint; the future is Aihrde.

The Codex may be old product but it beats the folio hands down for information to run your campaign. If you want deep history, and a deep look at the nations, guilds, and groups, this is a definite for anyone wanting to run a serious campaign. I love the folio too, but it works best with the Codex. I for one can't wait for the updated Codex, but I have a feeling it is a couple years out yet.

Yes indeed, don't take my post to mean the Codex isn't well worth getting.

My understanding, having not really read it, is that the Codex, like Winter runes, is in the TLG setting, but a d20 product. (I'm 99.9% sure that's right) so really, it's fine for setting material. For rules stuff, just use your C&C books. That said, converting on the fly is easy from d20 to Siege.

It is d20, and what makes the book so darned useful is that the game mechanics information is kept in its own sections, starting at page 181. As already noted, on the fly conversion is easy, and necessary given all the items exclusive to the setting, e.g. High Elf class, spells, magic items, and creatures.

One of the few d20 items I don't mind owning.

Ah, cool, when it showed up as a new product, I thought "woot!". I'll have to consider picking it up...and add it to my reading stack which is starting to turn into the reading monster stack....

Don't get that sucker just yet. We did a big blow out sale on the last dozen or so copies earlier this year. But at Gencon a retailer friend of mine (now out of business) asked if I wanted to buy some back, which I did. So I'll put those back on sale here shortly.

We plan to release the Codex of Aihrde (note the spelling) in 2012 at some point.

Thanks!
