Mace of smiting (+3) in M&T (Errata)

Post by Arduin »

There is an adamantine +3 mace in M&T. According to the rules: "Weapons fashioned from adamantine provide a natural +4
bonus to hit and damage."

So, this should be listed as a +3 magic bonus weapon and a +4 non-magic bonus to hit & damage.
Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill

Actually, the +3 should be removed and replaced with +4. Since the mace is of adamantine it provides the +4 to both "to hit" and damage. The entry should be changed to "+4 Mace of Smiting" if only to try and clarify that the adamantine the weapon is made of confers the bonus. The magic comes into play when dealing with constructs and extraplanar creatures. It should read something like this:

+4 Mace of Smiting: This adamantine heavy mace has a +5 enchantment bonus against constructs, and any roll of [a] natural 20 dealt to a construct shatters it, completely destroying its form (no saving throw). A natural 20 dealt to an extraplanar creature deals x4 damage.
