Not so friendly gamestore

Don't get me wrong, the people who own the place are very nice people. So, I decided to buy the TLG screens from them. I just got them and it cost me $40 Canadian... $40 dollars!!!!

Well from now I'm buying directly from TLG.

Edit: Just opened them and they are the old screens (Portrait), case bound... grrrrrrr.... So, I paid $40 for screens I didn't want. I was very specific with my game store (Specifically asked for the landscape and they just told me they could get it. I guess they have no idea that portrait and Land scape are two different things), not realizing that the screens I want where order only. I'm really pissed off now.

I don't quite understand your question. I'd figure you'd know that TLG is Troll Lord Games.

Sorry. channel shorthand. List price direct from TL's for the same item.

$15.99. + shipping.

I'm pretty sure that 15.99 + shipping won't even come close to $40.

I don't understand why TLG would offer both Landscape and Portrait in case bound, unless they are covering all their bases.

If TL's follows standard channel strat, the game store gets it for quite a bit less than $15.99 so they can profit and match TL direct price to retail. They are going to lose business by gouging like this.

I know, as you can see I've vowed to never buy there again.

I really wanted to get; Classic Monsters, but I guess that'll have to wait until I get more money, or I get the payed for the next; The Crusader article.

I thought TLG was only offering the Landscape Screens via their webstore. There wasn't going to be anything in distribution as far as it was explained.

The regular, verticle screens are $19.99 and available through distribution it seems.

Yes, I realize that now. But, like I said above, I was very specific about telling them I wanted the land scape and not the portrait. They told me they could get them. So, they either lied about it, or just didn't understand the difference between the two. They are nice people so I'd like to believe the second.

Can you not return them?
If you specifically asked for something else then I would think you are entitled to a refund, or at least a store credit.
Better than nothing?

Without looking at the front page, I teared it open. So, it is has been opened. Sure they may take it back, but to be honest they are such nice people I'd rather leave it as it is and avoid the tension (Or, more like creating tension.) They could easily view it as, they fulfilled my order, as stated (Or, so they believe rightly or wrongly) and now I'm bitching about it. (Some of the fault lies with me as I should've read the cover thingy before opening it.)

Seeing as how I want to use their store to run a C&C adventure, I'd rather that there are good terms all around.

I'll just have to suck it up.

Understood. Sounds like a wise course overall.

Depends on what you mean by 'close' to the $40 mark. I've checked the TLG store and they are showing the price of shipping to Canada to be $11.85 - for a $16 set of screens. Grand total is $27.84 is US greenbacks.

Still short of $40, but OUCH! I'll have to hold off until they run a sale on other items that I need, just to spread the cost of all that postage.

For the sake of complete disclosure, the postage to the US is a meagre $4.65.

My FLGS has a shrink wrapper, and will let you open anything and they'll rewrap and shelve anything you don't want to buy. Maybe yours is the same.

Still it'd give me a little over $10 to put forwards to books like Classic Monsters or the CKG guide. Now, I'll have to wait longer. So, I still have screens I don't want and have the added expense of getting the one I do want. Sucks...

Mine doesn't, and this was a special order as they do not carry C&C stuff (Though I am trying my best to change that.) Plus, pretty much all of their rpg books are open so you can look at them, so this is kind of a different case.

Hopefully I'll have the cash needed the next time a sale comes buy.
