From the AD&D Fiend Folio, what type of undead would you classify a polergeist as? Common?

It's better medium-well, depending on how it's tenderized.

I prefer fricasseed. Do you know what the penalty is for hunting fricasseeing ectoplasm without a fricasseeing ectoplasm license?

The description states they turn as skeletons, so was thinking common, but maybe not.

Btw, thanks for the plethora of colorful replies all, lol!

I was basing it off of the frequency tag in the Fiend Folio.

Actually, I was talking in terms of TURNING (sorry if that was unclear). In C&C terms, would the be common or extraordinary? Based on the description on page 135 of the PHB, I think extraordinary actually fits.

If they turn as skeletons, Lobo, I'd slap the "common" tag on them.

You know, I thought so as much, and may still go that route, but read that description in the PHB under turning for what qualifies as common or extraordinary, and I'm actually leaning more towards extraordinary.

Hmmm...going to dig through M&t and find simliar, non-corporeral undead to compare to...later!

In AD&D, it was meant to reflect how easily they are turned whereas C&C does thing slightly differently. I would make them "extraordinary" but perhaps make them easier -- that is, your check to to turn is given a modifier, but the number (determined by "type") is unaffected. I'd slap a +1 - 3 bonus on turning check against them. Maybe more but probably not.
