Dawnforge: Crucible of Legend Conversion?

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this:

Does anyone have any advice for converting Dawnforge for play with C&C? I really like the idea and have the books, but I can't see me having the patience to run a straight D20 game of it. Besides, I like C&C a LOT better :)

Yay! A Dawnforge fan!

I've actually not had a chance to actually play it. But i do have the book and find it to be quite intriguing. It's a nice-looking setting.

For converting to C&C... i think converting the races would be pretty easy. Just use the PH as a guideline so no one race is particularly strong over another. The new classes will take some work, but be sure to tone them down- a direct verbatim copy would leave them too powerful in relation to base C&C classes.

Were their specific issues / questions you were wondering about?

I was more trying to see if anyone had any info before I gave it a shot. As far as balance goes, I am not sure that the setting/options themselves actually had a lot of balance to them. Are you saying I should try to balance them out?

I worry that the racial transformations will not scale well with C&C, not to mention there are racial transformation feats that flavor the characters. I fear there may not be that much compatibility if I do not do some work to tack on the 3.5 feats to the C&C core rules.

To my knowledge, no one has ever done a conversion before.

Well, 3E uses an identical XP progression for every class, so all classes had to be 'balanced' in their power level. The overall power level of C&C classes is lower than that of 3E at any given level. IE, a verbatim Spirit Adept gets a LOT more stuff to do than a base C&C fighter. There's no "right" way to do it, but i think you'd want to make sure that the Dawnforge classes don't completely outshine the base C&C classes.

The nice thing about C&C is that it's modular. Lots of people have added feats to C&C and it's worked out well. If you have the CKG, you could check out the section on Advantages. These are very feat-like, and would give you a good base on how to convert feats (both racial and otherwise) to C&C. I think that'd be a good way to go for Dawnforge.
