The C&C CL Checker (Excel format)

This isn't some revolutionary breakthrough. I was reading the thread nightstorm started, about wanting a chart to calculate "DCs" (I know he meant CLs). So, I did up a little Excel sheet that will calculate the CL that you met after you input a couple of numbers. You have to input the character's level, then check a box if the Attribute being checked is Prime. Then, input the result of the die roll. Then reference the chart below those fields, by finding the Attribute Score of the Attribute checked. The column "CL Achieved" will show you what CL (or lower) that you overcame.

For any interested, please take a look and if I messed something up, plese let me know! Thanks!

You're quite welcome! I'll assume it works. :) If anyone has any comments/feedback, please let me know.

I cannot get to mediafire from work, we block it... Does this also ask if the skill being utilized is a class skill from another class? That would determine if the level of the character is being added or not. What about other modifiers, such as magic items that specifically aid in something (Sir Hillary's Gloves of Climbing, +5 on all climb tests)?

No, it's a simple spreadsheet that has a few formulas added into that takes into account your class level, your attribute modifier, whether the attribute being checked is Prime or not. I don't think it would be too hard to add in whether or not it's a class skill and any other modifiers. For the former, I think that could be solved by leaving the cell where you input your level at "0" which would solve that. As for magical bonuses, that's just another cell to add to the formulas, so that's pretty easy. I can footnote the level cell that will say "Input 0 if checking a non-class ability" And I'll add a spot to "add any additional (magic, etc.) bonus to check here." Something like that.

koralas, I reflected on what you posted and what I replied and worked on the sheet a little more.

I made a notation at the "Input Level" field to input 0 if checking against a non-class ability. I also added another field to input any modifiers to the check. I also polished up the explanation and example at the bottom, under the result table. If there are any more suggestions, please let me know! And thanks!

Ah, there are many different ways to skin that cat, especially since I am the Infrastructure Manager, and have the keys to the kingdom when it comes to IT. I choose not to, I can't expect our end users to respect the appropriate use rules if we in IT do not. BTW, even HTTPS proxy's can be blocked if they are blacklisted either by your webfilter/firewall provider, or you build the rules yourself.

I'll check it out when I get home, those were just two things I thought of when I saw your post not mentioning them.

Yes, (deep ssl inspection proxy). However, most Dept's don't bother. As to blacklisting, worthless and actually, dangerous if one is relying on that for IT sec. There are too many added every hour.
