Does anyone allow "Party" treasure in their campaign? I have in the past, but have insisted magic items, and other important articles be assigned to PCs or NPCs in the party. I've also had a party's pack animal wander off from time to time. :)

I have no idea what you are talking about and I am curious.
What does "party" treasure mean?

Thanks for reading,
Volo.

I don't know if this qualifies, but my group keeps treasure that no one needs in a "group storage" that they will eventually sell off (when they get back to civilization) or will be used if someone needs something from it. When sold, they divide the treasure evenly five ways. I have suggested the party take an extra share (a sixth share) of the gold for "party use" - identifying components, restoration/raising costs, transportation, other spells castings, etc. I think they're finally getting the hint, as some players get a little fussy when they're fronting all the pearls for the identify spells. But yeah, items that are going to be used right away (the "important" ones, as western mentioned) are usually determined pretty quickly - belt of giant strength going to the party barbarian, ring of protection +3 going to the person with the lowest AC, magic bow going to the archer, etc. Everything else is put away as previously mentioned.

If it's not on your character sheet, you do not have it. That's my rule. If the party wants to keep these kind of items in some pool (like on a pack mule, hireling, etc.) fine. But the base rule still holds true.

All the time. Usually, it is money but it can also take the form of some sort of item or equipment which either no one wants, or cannot use, at least... until it becomes more money. It's usually the kind of thing kept in reserve until needed, like to purchase a cleanse evil for a resurrection attempt or whatever.

What do you mean by "party treasure"? And, are you talking from the "hat" of GM, DM, CK?
