old D&D module PDFs
I just received my drivethrurpg newsletter. WotC seems to be selling old D&D module PDFs again - B1 and B4 so far.
Re: old D&D module PDFs
Links are always awesome for posts like this.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I went to RPGNow and couldn't find Wizards of the Coast, and then was able to find B1 but not click back to the publisher, and then B1 was gone. I looked at the latest newsletter online and didn't see mention of it. Something screwy is going on. Now Wizards is there but I can't browse to it.

Huh, now when I click on the links in my newsletter, they aren't coming up. Something screwy indeed. I'll keep an eye out any let you know if anything new happens.

Re: old D&D module PDFs
I think someone pulled the trigger early. However this is good news. With the reprint of 1e, the upcoming reprints of 2e and the Slavers series and WOTC pushing towards AD&D more I think we will be seeing more good things coming from WOTC. Now if they will do the Rules Cyclopedia and T1-4 life will be good.

AD&D per se is as dead a system as Latin is a language, while the C&C game has much the same spirit and nearly the same mechanics. --Gary Gygax 8/16/06

WOTC did announce at Gen Con that they would be releasing the PDF's again, so hopefully they are starting to load the PDF's to their site in preparation for the release day.

Oh, those have been floating around the interwebs for years now. Heck, you may even know someone who has every module published by TSR in pdf format on his computer right now...

Yep. By waiting SO long to sell them as PDF's they were beaten to the punch.AGNKim wrote:Oh, those have been floating around the interwebs for years now. Heck, you may even know someone who has every module published by TSR in pdf format on his computer right now...
Re: old D&D module PDFs
Or there are people like me, who just scanned the physical copies they already own. Not that I have done that to every module, but when I run them I scan them.

I have about 10 I haven't scanned. If they charge a couple bucks for those I would buy them. But, not if they charged more.

Re: old D&D module PDFs
Ya, it was a strange business decision to remove the old edition PDFs from legal circulation. There are a lot of people will happily pay to buy things legally if they can, but won't feel guilty about filesharing if that's the only way to get them, and I'm guessing that's what most people have done over the last three or four years since WotC stopped making the old material legally available. We'll see if they can still manage to sell any ...
Re: old D&D module PDFs
The only time I really wished I had the PDF available is when I ran the big compilation modules, such as the Slavelords or the Queen of the Demonweb series. When its the 30 or so page modules, they are actually pretty easy to scan.

Re: old D&D module PDFs
These days, I actually prefer PDF to physical copies of modules. I pretty much only run any particular module once, I don't like a lot of clutter on my shelves, and it's nice to be able to print out disposable copies of maps, NPCs, etc., to write on.
Luckily, there's always C&C modules to buy.

I;d love to get my (virtual or otherwise) complete pdf or hardcopy in good shape of "Temple of the Frog" and "expedition to the barrier peaks"
Those two are so "on crack" that I fell in love with them immediately, and running them changed the whole tenor and direction, and ultimate outcome of the biggest campaign I ever ran. But I can;t find them now! grrrrr.
Not that it matters, the memories are more important, but still...
