Mirror of Life Trapping
Mirror of Life Trapping
So, is there no "CL" for the Mirror of Life Trapping? Is it simply a "Wis" save, CB 12/18?

Trap the Soul spell (one you would you'd use to make this item) requires an 17th level Cleric.

Hmmmm....Hokay, the entry for the item in M&T doesn't say anything about that. How would you handle it? What CL would you put on it?Arduin wrote:Lobo316 wrote:So, is there no "CL" for the Mirror of Life Trapping? Is it simply a "Wis" save, CB 12/18?

Note, I don't mind running it strictly as 12/18, but it seems the "effectiveness" of such an item will be severaly hampered after a white (with the level of the character added to the save throw).

See magic item creation section.Lobo316 wrote:

For magic items you figure using the minimum caster level of the item creator. In this case 17th level.Lobo316 wrote:How would you handle it? What CL would you put on it?
Wisdom would be the save. For those with it as Prime it would be 27. Non prime would be 33. It is done exactly as saving throw vs a spell.Lobo316 wrote:Note, I don't mind running it strictly as 12/18, but it seems the "effectiveness" of such an item will be severaly hampered after a white (with the level of the character added to the save throw).

OK, I just reviewed that section, as well as the cleric spell, Trap the Soul. So, what I'm getting here, is your basically using "common sense". I mean, there's not "ingredients" list on what was required to make that mirror, so you're just using common sense to say "Trap the Soul" sounds like what a wizard would use to create a mirror of life trapping, correct?
Heck, the mirror is more powerful than the spell, lol?
Re: Mirror of Life Trapping
I'm using the data presented in the section in question. The only common sense comes from having a kowledge of various spell effects and the Magic item in question. Also see specifically the cost table. Yes, of course the item is more powerful than the SINGLE spell. The cost table takes that into account.Lobo316 wrote: OK, I just reviewed that section, as well as the cleric spell, Trap the Soul. So, what I'm getting here, is your basically using "common sense". Well, that certainly makes more sense for the saving throw. Thanks!!Arduin wrote:I'm using the data presented in the section in question.
