OK, so the new BoF has on page 93 (fighter famliars) that there is a level based Str bonus to the famliar. So, example, at 5th level, the familiar gets a +3 to STR. Well, how do you determine the Str score for the multiple of animals out there? What is a Hawks Str? or a Polar Bears?

I think this column would be better served by a combination of bonuses to hit every 4th level, and bonuses to damage every two levels (after first level, at which they start with Weap Spec).

I love it when I reply to my own post, lol.

Looking at it further (p. 93) I just edited that chart, in case anyone is interested, to flat bonuses. A bit more simple and straight forward to plug in.

I kept the Str Bonus column the same, but renamed it to "damage bonus". Then I removed weapon specialization at first level, and simply added a +1 to hit. Then I added an additional +1 to hit at levels 5/6, 9/10, 13/14 and 17/18.

I also remove Combat Dominance and replaced with the players choice of a "fighter advantage" (since we use advantages).

I'll make simliar adjustments to the Greater and Superme Fighter Familiar lists.

Here's the charts for you to check out (man, I'm such a geek!). The top one is my "edited" chart. The bottom is from the BoF...

Looks good to me. Do you also have it in PDF to share? Or are you not that much of a geek?

Are, you talking about my chart (with my adjustments)? If so, I sure do. I do plan on editing the superior familiars as well on the fighters chart, so let me do that and I'll get 'em both to ya.

OK, aside from sending files to someone, here's all three tables (7-4, 7-5 & 7-6), modified to use "fixed" values instead of Strength bonuses. One note, where my charts has "Fighter Advantage" is Combat Dominance in the BoF, use whatever you like for your game. Enjoy...

Another question that I found is regarding the CHA of mercurials (i think). In order to keep one under control there is supposed to be a contested CHA roll. What is the Cha for a mercurial?

I'd just give it a standard check for a monster (P=Physical primes, M=Mrntal primes, Both or None) and add its hit dice. No need to know what a given score is.

That is how it is supposed to be done.

Wonder if it is modeled after the Intelligent Magic item control check?
