...A book that can give me an overview on mining settlements? I've been gleefully ripping thru my Wilderlands stuff and have come across so many entries that list some sort of mining as a primary resource. But I'm at a loss as to what the features would be for a town or settlement based on mining. I've no idea what such a town would look like.
All I know is that there would be a mine somewhere, and likely an ore-smelting place. After that I have no idea.
Anyone know of one of those "1001 bits of random info for your campaign" type books that talks about it a bit?

I would imagine there would be slag heaps all around. And it would be dirty. Look at images of coal mining towns in the early 1900s. That should give you a fair idea of what mining towns wood look like.

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining_and ... val_Europe will give you some ideas about what the processes were and thus, what type of major equipment you'd find in the mining settlement. 19th century had more advanced tech and doesn't really fit into a medieval setting all the time.

Try Mines of Custalcon (Drive Thru RPG) and Spies of Light Elf (Drive Thru RPG). Both with mining towns/camps, both set in the Wilderlands by JG. Custalcon really makes the filthy poor, short life come to living color.
