The Book of Familiars

Post by ChaosImp »

An excellent book which I will be using for my gnome Fraz Dingle ( mage/thief ) destroyer of Kobolds !! The thing is when reading through the fighters hero weapon I came across some of the weapons abilities that may have been overlapped by 3rd ed. if anyone here could clarify the following powers.

Heroes weapon powers
Distance
Ghost touch ?
Keen
Merciful
Seeking
Shock ( how much electricity damage?)
Thundering
Vicious
Dazing touch
Inkling

I looked through the book and unless I really missed something there is no reference to any of the above powers in the book.

Cheers

Most of those are defined in the 3E/D20 SRD, not sure about Inkling. I imagine they are hold overs from the D20 version of this book, so if not defined in the SRD, then likely are in the older D20 version of the book.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yeah, not all the definitions look to be in here:

Yeah, it has a lot more than the original book does.

Odd that ghost touch is listed as one of the powers as C&C doesn't have 50% concealment for incorporeal undead.

Ghost touch isn't a power in the C&C rule set.

For C&C I just have it enable the weapon to hit the Ghost, and similar, as if it is always corporeal.

You will be upset. So the real question is, do you like tons of ideas more than about two dozen mistakes?

Snoring Rock wrote:Ok so it is not a new book, but one adapted from the original D20 book from TLG? So there are some old debris from D20 lingering in the pages? Besides just ghost-touch, what else is lingering in there? If I purchase, I want new stuff I can use. Will I have too many D20 lingerings?

Its not just the D20 lingerings, there has been other problems too, abilities not explained, or not on an easy to find table, but it is full of a lot of new material and a lot of ideas based upon the ideas of animal companions, familiars, etc... So there is a lot more to it than the D20 version.
