My home brew uses the same component for everything, at least for now. The caveat is that every spell is necromantic, and if they need a component, that component is blood.
If the blood was taken from a willing donor, the spell has a markedly different effect than if taken from an unwilling donor.
This sort of system is pretty easy to track, since it's a couple of lines in the equipment list. It also has the advantage of being vulnerable to damage or loss, adding drama.
However, it wouldn't work for everyone unless you come up with a decent common component for all spells that makes sense.
