Cool "moment" of the game session...

Tonights cool moment was when my fellow party member threw a lasso on the Dragon-troglodyte hybrid priest and then jumped off the 35 foot high cliff, trying to drag the Priest over the cliff with them, but the strong Priest maintained his footing. So then I overbeared him, successfully, pushing him over, giving him 20 points of damage.

No, I am a smart Paladin, I only pushed the evil priest off. The Half Orc, though, did fall and take damage, but only for the last 10 feet, since that is all he was dangling above the cavern floor by once I pushed the Priest off. The evil Priest was also still alive, but not for much longer, even though it did take almost 20 more HP of damage to finish him.

The lizard priest was almost impossible for me to hit (thick dragon hide plus armour) but he was standing at the edge of a cliff (a la Paladin in Hell pic in 1e) so I decided to get creative.
The theory was to lasso him, then give 25' feet or so of lead and then swing down, Tarzan style, pulling him off at the base of my pendulum swing. That was the theory

. I am a trained acrobat (ckg advantage) with very high dex.
Perhaps fortunately for me, he made his str check not to be pulled off. So Treebores overbear plus my still pulling him down meant half dragon go boom. Although frighteningly, after the 35 foot fall he still had more hp than I did.

So a Lawful Smart paladin instead of Lawful Stupid?
Way to use teamwork to rescue the situation, too. I'll admit, when I'm running a game, I love to see the adventurers work together to outmaneuver me.

That's great! I love outside the box thinking. Good thing Tree managed to knock the priest off or your hanging there could have had you stuck in Fulcrum's Prison while time keeps draggin' on.

It is a neat visual. Too bad there was no tree nearby to which the rope could have been lassoed and then the lizard dropkicked off the cliff resulting in a hanging of the most unkind sort.
That would have been icing.

There was a large statue, but it was a good 20 feet or so away, and would have added another roll to succeed at in order to pull it off.

Here's a cool moment from the Troll's game last night.
We walked down a long hallway for about a week. At the end, we encountered a massive Minotaur, about 50' tall, blocking the only exit. He told us, with no equivocation, that he would not let us pass. He would hinder us at every step if we tried to go through that door.
So we really wanted to go through that door.
The party bantered and talked and cajoled and parlayed an palavered for thirty minutes (game time) with this thing. He basically answered every time, "I will not let you pass, I am not here to banter" and would speak no more. My dwarf Paladin finally got sick of it and told the party, "You have one minute" and began counting. At sixty, I walked up the steps and engaged the beast.
The wizard, a few rounds into the battle, noticed these goblin faces carved into the rock wall. He deduced that the creature was under a spell and we might break the spell. So he starts casting all manner of spells to do so. As me, the fighter, the monk and the ranger were taking 30+ points of damage a round from this thing.
Wizard: I cast Earthquake at the wall.
Steve: No effect
Me: Attack the beast!
Wizard: I cast Disentergrate on the wall.
Steve: No effect.
Me: Attack the beast!!
Wizard: I read the Wish spell from my spellbook and Wish the faces would dissolve <rolls>.
Steve: No effect.
Me: ATTACK THE F^@%*G BEAST!
My Paladin dies, at -11. The ranger dies, at -11. The fighter dies at -14. The monk is taken to -9. The wizard... casts Dispel Magic ON THE WALL.
After our dead bodies had been dragged away, I asked the Wizard player, "You used a Wish spell and wished for that?!" He said, "Well, I didn't want the party to die," to which I replied, "Then maybe you could have wished FOR THAT."
We sat away from the beast for two weeks (he didn't approach us) and will start anew next week.
EDIT: If Chris were to reply (the guy that plays the wizard), I'm sure his take would be much different).
