On the secondary books I tend towards PDF since I just use them for stocking scenarios. Easier to search too. You'll like this one. Saves time converting from 1st Ed D&D

Well, plus he does change a lot of them from how they originally appeared, due to copyright reasons I would guess is at least part of why. Anyways, I also liked the changes they made. I think the changes made the monsters better than they used to be.

Wow, thanks Robert. I appreciate that.

I too suggest this second monster book to fill out "what you need".. I do believe CnC can really be played with the PH alone, but you got to have M&T.. so for the CK you need at least MT and the expanded monsters should do it for just about everyone.. The changes do need to be recognized.. I had one adventure around a certain monster from way back.. went to use the new CnC monster and thought I'd lost my mind, it changed quite a bit... but again, if you have the old books, tweak it back as you see fit in my case I just changed the "motivation" back to what it was and my old DnD adventure needed no significant changes... happy CKing.. (that right there is the hardest bit to change for me...).

I definitely value the
Monster books for C&C but I also dig that you can covert 1e/2e monsters mostly "on the fly." If it is in an official C&C book I use it but if not I convert it. I really dig that you can use most AD&D stuff with C&C. I also dig that even some magic items from 4E and 5E work with minor adjustments.
I recently generated a bunch of treasure from 1e with UA using the
Dungeon Master's Assistant Volume II for my C&C game. Using the program made it easier to re-roll treasure tables if the results weren't to my liking. Some stuff I had to convert but a lot of it was usable as is. I also used the 5E versions of a couple of those rolled items because it made more sense for C&C than using the 3E-based stuff in the actual C&C
Monsters & Treasure books. To cite an example:
M&T, p144 (4 Printing,Pre-release) wrote:
AMULET OF HEALTH: This amulet is a golden disk on a chain
that usually bears the image of a lion or other powerful animal.
While worn, the amulet grants the wearer an enchantment
bonus to constitution of +2, +4, or +6.
This item raises your Constitution by 2, 4, or 6 points which under 3e/4e most definitely gives you an advantage every time but under C&C attributes it doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes raising your Constitution by 2 points does nothing for you.
So I went with:

Amulet of Health
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
Your Constitution is 19 while you wear this amulet.
The amulet has no effect on you if your Constitution is
already 19 or higher.
It works great in my campaign. I especially like the simplicity that nothing stacks with it and it doesn't need to be replaced and gives nearly every character an advantage.
