Nice change of pace

I finally got a chance to run C&C for my group last night for the first time. The first combat was sluggish as we felt things out, but the rest of the combats moved very quickly, and in turn I was able to keep them very cinematic. I actually had one player say that he had already gone when I asked him what he was going to do next, as he didn't realize that we had already gotten back around to him. I had a chart numbered from 1-10, and had a counter for each character. As each character went, I pulled them off of the initiative tracker. Then at the start of the next round, I just picked up each counter, asked what initiative the rolled, and placed them back on the chart at their initiative.
As the subject line says, it was a nice change of pace. We have grown accustomed to Pathfinder, and with all the character options, especially at higher levels, combats tend to drag out.

I left 3E, and therefore essentially Pathfinder, because of the need to use EXCEL sheets as character sheets to keep track of all of the numbers etc.... at higher levels. So C&C was a HUGE change of pace for me that kept me in the hobby. Seriously. I was at the point where I was thinking, "If this is the future of RPG's, I want nothing to do with it."
So I hope you are on your way to having a similar experience. Even your players will hopefully enjoy the easier number tracking, etc... Far less number tracking and more combat and role playing is certainly a much better change of pace.

I'm actually the Venture-Lieutenant for Pathfinder Society in my area. Shhhh!
In my home game, we switched to C&C. From my perspective as a GM, it takes a lot less time to prepare encounters in C&C because of the streamlined game mechanics. For my players, we could run through 2-4 combats in a night in Pathfinder. In C&C, we get almost double that and still have time to haggle with a farrier over horse shoes.
I enjoy playing other systems and I enjoy meeting new players and Pathfinder has a great organized component that indulges both of these. With that said, my personal judgement is that C&C is a superior game system, I just wish their organized system would go "live".
