playing wow rpg with c&c

i was thinking xonverting this setting to c&c, its viable?

Anything is certainly possible... however, since there are some races and classes developed for this setting, you'll have to convert some of these to C&C.
It's been a very long time since I've glanced through the book, but I seem to remember a class (or was it the race) that built things (an artificer class?) that were 'machine' and 'technological' in nature. You'll have to find a viable way to convert this but that would probably the toughest... Once that is done, it should be fairly simple for the rest. Of course, you can always look at 1st and 2nd ed Dragonlance to see how the Tinker Gnomes were handled.
I believe there was someone on these boards that was converting Eberon to C&C ... maybe he can provide a few insights.
*edit* -- I'm assuming you're talking about the Warcraft d20 adaptation and not the MMORPG here.

Most of it is easy. The biggest problem is what you want to carry over and what you are willing to leave out. IF you try to bring everything over from the 3E rules then it will be difficult.
Skills can be treated as ""calss skills". Feats can be translated into special features of their class, but your problem will be trying to convert the feats they could select as they level up. You have to either use the feat system in C&C, which is still doable, or be willing to just cut all of that stuff out.
Even my "feat like actions" doesn't help very well with transferring these aspects of 3E over. So you have to be willing to trim things off of the classes and lose some of their powers based on feats to get it to work with the simpler and lower power C&C rules set.
Now if you use everything Warcraft, that you convert, then the lower power of C&C won't interfere, because your only using converted material and monsters. Since you will have hopefully kept the power levels essentially equivelant, or equal, across all the classes and creatures.

I've been 'converting' Eberron for my own game. I'll be honest... at times it seems like too much. I see all the stat blocks and all the different classes and such, then I get depressed and want to give it all up. I've found that just converting what you need/want is good enough. The thing is that Eberronis D&D so there is little difference in many stats and therefore easier than what I guess WOW would be. I've never played WOW so I can't directly answer you question, only to give you encouragement to at least try. Take it slow and do only what you need at first. The bottom line is C&C is a fast paced system, easy on the rules, so once you begin playing, the rest of the 'crunch' just melts away.

The WoW RPG uses the D20 system, does it not? I would think that conversion would be relatively easy. But, as was said before - only convert what you need at the moment. You'll overwhelm yourself otherwise, methinks.

Is the OP talking about the WARCRAFT d20 RPG or are you just tlaking about the CRPG in general?

The power level of Warcraft needs to be kept in mind. It's been my experience that characters in the Warcraft RPG are powerful even by d20 standards so be sure to either power them down or know that you need to power the critters they face up.

Conversion from a CRPG is easy. I did Morrowind without any problems, and I even translated Diablo II into C&C. If the CRPG can be done, the version that's already designed to emulate it (d20) can be converted just as simply. 99% of everything "game" is fluff. The other 1% mechanics. C&C uses nearly the same mechanic for everything... so, the job is just about done for you. Pick a class to start, read it, and then say: "what is the Primary attribute for this class?" Other questions will answer themselves (just look at the BAB progression, weapons allowed, and whatnot) and then, for any ability that might require a roll (anything that is DC-related) ask: "what attribute should determine this ability's success?" You're then done, for the most part. If the class has some weird ability like creating mechanical golems, then treat it like a spellcaster and break the ability into level-gaps, and the "enchantments" as spell-like abilities or spells / day.
I bet after a year or so of playing C&C continually, conversion from anything will seem a joke. Its that easy.

That is how I would describe my experience. I felt that way after just a few months. It helped that I did the basics of converting 2d6 Traveler over to SIEGE. Then the rest fell in to place so easily I could wing it without feeling a need to write everything out.

There's actually the Warcraft RPG, which was based on 3.0 rules and then there's the World of Warcraft RPG which is 3.5 rules. I believe they modified some of the classes and abilities between the two editions, and not strictly because of rule changes between the two.
Overall, it shouldn't be too difficult to move any version (2 PnP or the MMO) into C&C. The thing to remember is that the PnP versions are based on computer versions which tend to give out abilities much more frequently than the standard C&C classes do. You'd probably be best off ripping out the default C&C classes and replacing them with the Warcraft versions.
