Glaive-guisarme vs. Voulge-guisarme ~ who wins?

Post by Tadhg »

Discuss!

:P Just kidding. Both nasty weapons, especially being used upon horseback.

Re-reading Unearthed Arcana ~ great stuff in the appendix. The chapter does a great job of breaking down the pole arms into catagories - spears, axe, cleaver and combinations.

The Fauchard-fork looks badass, heck they all do.

I rarely have players that use pole arms, but I do like to have gnolls and other monsters use bardiches or halberds. 7ft gnoll swinging a halberd or stabbing directly . . look out adventurers!

Of course y'all remember that the early C&C PHs had some nice drawings (if a little too small) of various weapons. I'd like to see The Trolls put the drawings back in!

Well, I have all that I need with UA, 2E Arms & Equipment, the first Arms & Armor and the internets.

But if you pull my arm(or) . . I might get interested.

Do you have this book then? If so, how do you like it. I see the chapter on pole arms is several pages long. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Thanks.

I got the Castellan's Guide to Arms and Armor, so there's now another arms book?

Glaive wins hands down.

First, Glaive sounds better than Voulge. Voulge sounds almost... pornagraphic.

Second, how many movies featured a Voulge? Zero? Because Krull was pure awesome sauce on demon steeds and it featured... wait for it...

A GLAIVE!! Now, it may have been more like a finger-claw throwing star but let's be honest. Coolness trumps accuracy any day.

Finally, when the big bad evil thing rolls up out of the lava pits on level 10, towering over the party and announces in it's deepest evil-est voice "Now face the fury of my demon edged VOULGE!!!" how could anyone possibly not die laughing? Exactly.

Glaive. Wins.

Yep, follow Omote's link. The new book is by the Chenaults and is 50+ pages.

The Castellan's Guide to A&A is a great book and perfect for new players or CKs. For myself, I would like something with more info ~ so I most likely will buy the new book.
