Bard Countersong - 7th printing?

Was curious if there was ever any suggests of clarifying that coutersong does sort of exist in C&C but is buried in the M&T under the harpy listing..
An enterprising bard may try to counter the song with a charisma check; a successful performance allows the captivated creature to attempt a new charisma save, but does not negate the effect of the song. Failure means that the bard cannot counter that particular harpy’s song again that day.
Obviously it is meant to be monster/ability dependent but it might a good idea to at least reference it in the Player's Handbook so that it not missed and CK realize that if something is song empowered giving the Bard's a go at countering is an option.

[Side note I've been running a converted AD&D Bard recently he took a bit of hit on spell power but as Class-n-Half Bard/Druid his pretty functional really only lost his thief abilities. ]

Excellent idea to add to the Bard ability listings.

I brought that back and much more from the old PH of DnD in a version of the Bard.. would that class version (the 13th Class) of a PC class be of interest to anyone? I can put it into Issue IX of the Domesday.. its pretty thin on material still. Let me know... Cap'n

There is a reason words like "enterprising" are used in a monster write up...

I don't personally mind the inclusion of a "counter song" ability but I also don't read the PHB bard as the same type of bard as previous iterations have portrayed.

Perhaps the PHB should also say "you can deafen yourself to grant temporary immunity to sonic effects; this may become permanent depending on the source of the deafening. And, yes, blindness may also prevent attacks of visual nature." Granted, this seems much more obvious.

LOL ... I guess the difference is any class can stick a sewing needle through their ear drum to gain immunity but only the Bard can try to counter with song or poetics or farting noises. Based on that I figured it was worth noting.

Lots of ways to counter song or sonic attacks with other sounds, drown them out, exact anti-waves.. but without an ability noted its just a PC suggesting a "wing it" and the CK agreeing.

Great question and serleran's slightly sarcastic reply is spot on too.

The best way to counter song is to slay the singer or a silence spell.
