using 0-level Dungeon Crawl Classics

Has anyone ever run any of the Dungeon Crawl Classics modules written for 0-level characters, but using 1st level characters? I'm wondering if it would be fun, or if the challenge level would be too easy for the PC's.

Yeah. Its no big deal, really, but the party will be a bit more capable, is all. So, modify some encounters here and there (maybe add some critters). The zero-level stuff, on average, should be mostly RP, so technically, level should never be an issue.

Yes, I have run 0-level Halls of the Minotaur from the DCC line. I havn;t done it with 1st level PCs, only zero level, but this would be a snap to convert on the fly. 1st level PCs might find the challenge a bit easy, but one good hit from an enemy might change all of that. Other then a few powers, 0-levels and 1-levels are not that big a different in the APL, so the task will be be just fine.
No probs in my opinion.

I ran a party of three first level characters through DCC #0.
I posted what happened over on the Goodman Game forums.
Here's the thread if you're interested:

Oh yeah, I lurk over there and have skimmed over that post, although I didn't absorb that they were first level characters.
Cool, thanks!

Just something thrown together... not well-thought out:
Zero-level PCs
No class, obviously, but they can select one stat which will be considered a "half prime," on which all tied saves/checks are treated as a base of 15, rather than 12 or 18 (its an effective +3 bonus); humans may have two of these.
All zero-level PCs start with their Con / 3 for HP, and no Con modifier to the result.
To gain a level, and become full-fledged PCs (ie, to become 1st level) the character must find a tutor/mentor and be trained in the occupation they wish, and earn 750 XP; a spellcaster-to-be gains only half their usual zero-level spells, and does not get bonus spells (not that it matters since they can't use them anyway.)
At advancement, the PC rolls normally (adding Con modifier) and compares the result to the zero-level HP total. If the 1st level result is lower, HP increase by +1; otherwise, the HP total becomes the 1st level total. Example, a wizard apprentice with a 12 Con has 4 HP at zero-level; after advancing to 1st level, the result of the d4 is 2 -- the 1st level wizard has 5 HP. Example 2: a fighter-in-training with an 18 Con starts with 6 HP, but rolls a 10 on the d10 at 1st level advancement, resulting in 13 HP.

Yep, I did this as well. The module is balanced for 6 npc class pc's which is just about the same as 3 regular 1st level pc's. It worked very well and I highly recommend this module.

mhensley,
How did the PCs fare againt the ogre?
Did the conjurer put fear into your group. I was sad that my group bungled their way out of a tough fight with Suto.

If I remember correctly, they killed him easily enough. The only time someone got really hurt was from the trap in the cave.

I havn't ran a 0 level DCC, but after reading "Legends.....", I think that it would not be to easy for 1st level characters. 0 level characters in 3E are a lot different than a level character in C&C.
